"i didn’t read this whole thread, but just wanted to say that i think Hmmm is a great contributor to this blog and knows a lot about baseball. i have no idea if he can play CF though….

No offense, Hmmm."

none taken. in slow pitch softball, CF IS my natural position, but i'm not sure how that would translate to the major.

i'm guessing not well.

C Posada
1B Doug Mink, Giambi, poss Shelley if he survives trade time
2B Cano
3B Cabrera
SS Jeter
LF Damon (if still around and not traded)/platoon Matsui
CF Hmmm. Poss Melk-man?But if gone in a trade, I say Aaron Rowand for 4 yrs, $50 M, or Torri Hunter, 4yr/$65M
Rf Abreu

rolen has been injured and awful two of the last three seasons. I know he is only 32 or 33 but he seems to have become an injury plagued player. I wouldnt give much if anything do get him and the cardinals will want something good its not worth it. I think the twins would rather have another season with santana as their ace and trade him by the deadline when everyone is competing for the playoffs then trade him now. maybe not but i dont hear many rumors recently about a possible santana trade

I know their are players that are comparable to arods abilities but none of them are a free agent. We could only trade for someone like cabrera or tejeda to try to replace him.

Yankees don't need Johan or Dontrelle. They have the pitching they need and would be a waste of money and draft picks to go after Johan. Yankees have been good in getting young pitching through trades and draft picks.
Let the team make itself and get away from the whole buying thing they have been doing and getting them nowhere. Santana is a great pitcher, but is he worth the cost and would he do well in New York away from the laid back atmosphere of MN?
