The Mets had a meeting with Scott Boras late Tuesday night to talk about Alex Rodriguez. The Mets have never gone over the luxury tax limit with their payroll before but seem willing to consider it now.

So now you have the Angels and Mets admitting to interest in A-Rod. That’s all Scott Boras needs. Two large-market teams, East Coast, West Coast, it’s perfect.

I personally think the Mets are only doing their due diligence here and ultimately won’t drop $30 million for eight years or whatever it takes. But they’re in it for now.
