Montero is my pick for a future Yankee Catcher.

I hope that is true about Pavano..now Hughes bring some legitimacy to that number...hasnt had any since Joe Girardi wore it before Cecil Fielder got on the team.

Some of you guys responded to my earlier post about the report that the Twins would want Cano in a trade for Johan.
Some said Yes but most said NO...thoose who said NO,changed out Cano for a pitcher...according to the report, the Twins dont want pitchers in a trade for Johan, they evidently have some young guns, they have always needed offense.
I would trade Cano for Johan, but not for both CC Boys.I'd do a Cano/Duncan for Johan and low A position player, and again only if we reach an agreement on an extension.

Latham Joe:

Santana and his agent aren't required to grant an extension to a trade partner. He has a right to enter free agency and reap the full benefits of the Yankees shrinking payroll situation. His agent should be fired if he can't do basic math. We're getting Santana and we're not going to have to trade anybody for him. Maybe some team acquires him but they'll only get him as a 1 year rental. We're in the best position to lock him up long term at a tag of 5-10 million above any other team. We hold all the cards here because the Twins front office knows that we're the team with the resources and willpower to wait everyone out and outbid them in 1 year. If anything, we should offer far less talent than other teams because they don't have as much money as us. We have the Twins by the throat.

Master Wangkee;
One problem - if Minny Front Office isn't able to negotiatie a contract extension with Santana, they will trade him before the 2008 Trading Deadline...to a Team smart enough to negotiate a long term deal before acquiring him.

Cano is one of the best infield prospects in MLB. Considering the Yankees lack of infield prospects right now, trading him would be insane!

Same old Giants, play a good team, lose because of bad tackling, poor pass coverage, stupid penalties! Eli Manning is the ARod of the NFL!

Now that I've vented - Thanks to all of our veterans and Good Night!

The Yankees will have cleared so much payroll by the end of 2008 that they'll be able to outbid any other team for Johan Santana...by 5-10 million dollars per season extra. Johan Santana and his agent should be committed if they can't find a simple pocket calculator to add up the salaries of Giambi + Abreu + Moose etc. etc.

We can be patient for 1 year can't we? While we await the ace of our starting rotation, we should be thinking about weak areas that we can affect such as the bullpen. How are we going to construct a playoff caliber bullpen without Joba in it? If somebody has a blueprint, please share it with us.

I don't respond much to here because I don't type fast enough. I have been following the Yanks and the G-men seems like forever. My kids give me crap aaabout just following the NY teams. But that is all we got on the tube when I was a kid. So been following them since the late 50's.
Keep up your stuff Doreen you seem to have a good handle on life in general.

Trade Cano ? And replace him with who ? Cano plays everyday. Johan Santana pitches every 5 days. Melky could be replaced by Rowand / Hunter / Gardner.
Why have to deal for a quality 2nd baseman and give up even more prospects. Santana is a difference maker but not that much of a difference maker.

Gayle-

Loved your idea of Mora last week, it's been reported he wants out of Baltimore, waiving his no trade would be no problem.

Hall is playing the everyday CF for the Brewers, Braun will be playing 3rd for years to come.
Sanchez doesn't have enough power & Encarnacion defense is suspect & isn't on the block.
Farnsworthless for Mora is a deal worth making.

It’s good that the Yankees have released Pavano. Hopefully the Yankees and all of us fans can put his tenure behind and pretend that it never happened.

holy crap an angel got his wings !
