Surgery for Matsui tomorrow

November
13

Forget to mention this before, but Hideki Matsui will be getting his right knee operated on tomorrow at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Dr. Scott Rodeo will do the honors according to the Yanks.

Brian Cashman said last week that Matsui would be ready to go for spring training.

heard on abc news NY.. about pettitte. If he did go back to Houston that would be him not keeping his word and that would be a betrayal.. Andy would lose my affection…

He is one of the few honorable players, hopefully Andy will not double cross the Yanks..

If he retires that is his right and would be Ok but going to another team would be a LIE and not OK….

    stuart: wait. what.

  3. tallomd

    Good luck Godzilla!!!

Hey, does anyone but me remember when a million dollars was a lot of money? Is it a sign of age? Why is 26 million not enough?

  4. whoa

Good luck to him, but he should be traded.

  5. CaptainsCorner

Someone just said that on the WFAN that Pettitte might go back to the Astros! WHAT… I hope that is not true, if that happened then I would loss all respect for him. Do you have a link to that story?

  6. Aubrey

    he shouldnt be traded

  7. whoa

    he shouldnt be traded

    OF: Damon, Melky, Abreu

    DH: Giambi (part-time), Duncan (part-time), Posada (part-time)

There is no room for him on the roster. Pawn him off on Torre for some top prospects.

  8. Ian

Dr. Scott Rodeo. . . that must be his “operating” name.

  9. Rebecca--Optimist Prime

Okay. Someone has GOT to explain this Pettitte/Astros thing.

  10. stuart

Scott Clark ABC news.. Just a report.. If true andy will be a 2 faced parasite like most of the other guys..

again they can make as much as someone will pay them but to lie and double cross is no good.

call me naive, I tend to doubt it becuase of my respect for Pettitte, I hope I am correct.

Andy play for the Yanks or retire, you hand an agreement with the Yanks and you spoke about it a week ago do not be a liar and hypocrite like arod and about 85% of the players.

  11. whoa

Scott Clark is a dope. He was probably talking out of his posterior.

  12. CaptainsCorner

PETE do you know anything about this? Time to get his agents on the phone. I really hope this is not true. Did his bf Clemens really get him to come back home since he retired??!!

  13. Ty

If anyone should be traded, it’s Damon. Steve Goldmandiscusses this here…

    http://web.yesnetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071105&content_id=1433355&oid=36019&vkey=6

  14. RGK

Don’t believe any Astro thing. If Andy said “Yanks or no one” that’s exactly what it will be.

  15. CaptainsCorner

Why is Hank doing interviews saying the Yanks offered Rivera 3/$45m?!! Let Cash do his job, keep quite already.

  16. whoa

I read the Goldman column, but he overlooks an important point: you can get more in return for Matsui than Damon.

  17. Agent47

If this is true we can put andy in the phony section next to the arods.

  18. da man

If Pettite signs with the Stros he can take AROD with him.
Andy would be a classless jerk if he pulled that stunt. same like that jerk arod

13 million is alot of money – G-d blessed him with a flamethrower for an arm – he makes a promise to a team and backs out!
    lowlife!

  19. Miller

Maybe he can have surgery to repair his swing and his overall performance in the game of baseball.

  20. stuart

relax on the hate towards Pettitte. If anyone deseerves the benefit of the doubt it is he.. Pettitte has been 1 of the few non phony good guys and to proven otherwise I will assume he will keep his word…

If it was afraud or about 300 other players tht is another story but andy has always been a man of his word.

MO. SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE.

    (por favor)

  22. whoa

One moronic know-nothing talking head says something about Pettitte and you people go nuts. Calm down until you have a credible report.

  23. Andrea

    good call whoa. I

  24. stuart

more then 1 guy said it but all these rumors are rumors only…..

  25. gayle

I will believe the Andy stuff when I hear from him or his agent that he is willing to accept offers. it could be as little as someone in Houston saying that they would love to have him back and would ask him such.

  26. Migames

I love how people hear a rumor and all of a sudden Pettitte is the devil incarnate. Geesh, relax people.

  27. Andrea

Unless Pettitte is suddenly seen burning his Yankee uniform in public and signing with the Red Sox, I will never hate him.

  28. Migames

i also read today that the blue jays will go after andy pettitte and roger clemens. Doesnt mean its gonna happen. the off season is long. We need to see stuff from a more relaxed perspective. Just because someone reports it, doesnt mean its true.

  29. A-Point

Migames, its exactly how they are all against A-Rod now, one bad spin and the gang goes out there with pitch forks and torches. Sheesh. You’d almost think they are transplanted Red Sox fans.

  30. kim

Keith Law on espn.com ranked the top 50 free agents and said this about mariano rivera: “Due to his age, Rivera is probably in line for only a two-year deal, but he’s not in the Todd Jones/Trevor Hoffman class of reputation closers yet and probably has two to three years to go, especially if his employer continues to use him carefully.” The first time I read this I thought he was saying Mo isn’t as good as those guys… I’m confused- is it just me or does it sound like he said rivera was a class below them? bc if so, that’s ridiculous.

  31. Sherri

I’d have a hard time hating Pettitte regardless. He gives it his all when he plays. I remember stories of him begging Torre to put him in during games to help. I don’t even put him remotely class to the same category that A-Fraud’s representing. Andy’s a class act. If for some reason he decides to go with his BFF Clemens, then I wish him well. I feel certain he loves the Yankees, but there are other factors that can play into his decision. I honestly don’t give merit to this rumor, but just wanted to say that if nothing else, Pettitte’s earned our respect, and part of that is respecting his decisions, and knowing he must have good reasons for whatever decision he ultimately makes.

  32. Migames

he also ranked todd jones 34 and mariano is ranked 8th. So i think its safe to say that he thinks that mariano is better. he was talking about thier age. bot todd jones and hoffman are 40 (or gonna be)

  33. Sherri

Wish I had an edit button – that’s “I don’t even put A-Rod remotely CLOSE to the same category that A-Fraud’s representing.”

  34. Agent47

People forget to read. IF IF IF….. that’s the case then everyone has the right to burn Andy for this.

  35. AAC

‘Keith Law on espn.com ranked the top 50 free agents and said this about mariano rivera: “Due to his age, Rivera is probably in line for only a two-year deal, but he’s not in the Todd Jones/Trevor Hoffman class of reputation closers yet and probably has two to three years to go, especially if his employer continues to use him carefully.” ’
    —-
He’s saying that those guys get by on their reputations now, while Rivera’s still getting by on ability for the next 2-3 years.
