WFAN just said the Twins added both Horne and Jackson to their list. The deal was already way too generous. If this is true, it's an embarrassment showing what the Twins think of Hank--that he's dying to give them half the team, that his declarations are worthless. They're asking for half an entire team for the next 10-15 years and Hank would love to do it if he could get to a phone.

Yanks might pull out of Santana Talks for good: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3140498&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines

My gut feeling says keep Hughes...

Santana being both Santana and a LEFTY, I could swallow a trade of Hughes. Barely. But I don't see any need for Haren. He had one good year with a 3-level ERA, and the rest he was high 3 or 4+. Hughes himself could well post better numbers than Haren next year.

Now it's time to focus on the relief corps. With Rivera 38, we need a solid setup guy who could serve as a closer if Rivera gets hurt or slows down.

Farnsworth, Betemint and ?? for Nathan?

Steve Howe:

I'd guess that they'd try splitting them up with Mussina working long relief and spot starting for both of them to keep their innings under control. Kennedy won't have a full work load, but, he's closer to being turned loose than Hughes and Chamberlain. Then, too, I suppose who the Yanks get to fill the bullpen spots, but, along with Ohlendorff, I'd think two of Mahay, Marte and Affeldt would be a good start.

I’m sure if it is the real Bobcat - he can confirm it with Pete via email.

Any chance of the Santana deal moving forward. I’ve read that several Yankee FO folks were still having problems stomaching this deal and that it may come back to bite them in the future. I’m pretty sure Cash is one of those folks, but I wonder who else is balking at Hughes’ inclusion?

I'm sure it didn't please Gene Michael a lot, either.

NOW...to more important things. What the Hell are those HOF voters doing putting a do-nothing idiot like Bowie Kuhn in the HOF. He was the second worst baseball commisioner in history, behind only General William (Spike) Eckert. It was touch and go there for a ehile as #2 and #3 with Peter Ueberroff.

Johan Santana-S- Twins Dec. 4 - 12:05 am et

A Red Sox official told Yahoo! Sports Tim Brown that he believed the Yankees and Twins were "very close" to completing a Johan Santana trade.
His seems to be the minority opinion at the moment, but all one side has to do is blink for a deal to get done, or at least for contract talks to start. The current guess is that Santana will seek a six-year extension worth around $150 million.
