It looks like he throws strikes so he is at least an upgrade over Bruney, but still. Don't bank on this guy making the opening day roster. Clippard has got plenty of potential. Remember when Jonathan Albaladejo was getting cut Clippard was a top 5 prospect in the Yanks system. And we all knew how hard he threw then. He will finish the season in the Nationals rotation. He will have a decent major league career and he will show a lot more worth than an average middle reliever. If you don't believe me perhaps you should check out Nardi Contreras's assessment of him, or ask Chad Jennings who watched him pitch at AAA this yr. We saw a glimpse last year, when they helped to carry us to the playoffs. At worst they lose some value as trading chips, but we still have other resourses to get good pitchers, especially money.
