According to the Daily News, they were offered a deal from the twins that included Santana for Hughes, Melky, Vazquez(mid level minot leauger) and another A ball third baseman. According to Bill Maddon of the Daily News they did not make the deal because of the financial aspect of it and that the Yankees can not afford Santana. This deal was ended by Brian Cashman suggeting it was too much for the organization financialy to pay for santana. The Yankees have to make the deal for Santana.
