Jay- I may be wrong but on the minor league rule 5 level I think all you’ve got to do is have him at the AAA level all year, not with the big club.

Why did the Yankees bother taking anyone in the Rule V? They’re going to keep a 26-year-old AA pitcher on the major-league roster all year?? How pointless.

it really is hilarious how much Met fans think Heilman is worth.

he’s a middle reliever who would have an ERA around 4 in the american league.

Actually, the Pavano thing was being discussed in rumors, but, I’m sure the insurance thing is tied in somehow, if it happenes.

Lincecum is a nice looking pitcher. I don’t stay up for many west coast MLB games anymore, but I made a point of watching a couple of his starts last year. That said, the Yanks are not going to trade IPK or Hughes for him. If the Giants have concerns, you can be sure the Yankees are not operating in a vacuum and have the same concerns.

I’m out here in San Francisco and haven’t heard anything about the Yankees and Giants talking about Matsui. Although, the GM Sabean is apparently are shopping Tim Lincecum around – talking to the Blue Jays with Alex Rios. I’m all for a Hideki Matsui for Tim Lincecum package. The kid is legit – even at 90 poounds when he’s wet. Plus it would make the likes of IPK and/or Hughes expendable, if they’re not included in these Giants talks.

I totally agree. While I am certainly pleased that Pete went out of his way to give us this info, I am not sure how much I care.

We’re not going to find our own little Johan in the Rule V like the Twins did…or was that a sandwich pick?
