"just wait and get the draft picks at the very least. don’t insult yourselves with accepting that"

Way to think like the Twins GM and not a Yankees fan.

"Being that this is a blog that is supposed to be about BASEBALL in general and the Yankees specifically, I’m not going to go into the political arena with this."

i agree about sticking to baseball , but it's a character issue for arod if the article is true. i think murphydog said something to the effect that this just isn't the kind of investment that's good for arod because of the kind of business that it is. he's right.

my apologies if i overstated my case, but if there's one thing i hate, it's priviliged people taking advantage of disadvantaged people.

arod is better than that.

Unless the Yankee Front Office has information that Matsui's knee operation and past wrist injury have affected his production, trading him for a few B-level prospects is a mistake.

During his 5-year career Matsui has put up very, very good numbers: .295 BA/.371 OBP and averages around 25 HR/100 RBIs when he's healthy. Its hard to see that production being replaced by trading him.
Additionally, its important to keep a strong 4-man outfield rotation. Johnny Damon will likely need periodic rest, even if he is in great shape this season. Melky goes through periodic hitting slides where he needs a rest now and then. Granted Matsui is not a "defensive gem", but he can play adequately in limited exposure.

He should be their primary DH, unless either (a) injuries have affected his skills, or (b) Giambi is set for a return to 2005, 2006 production levels.

We are trading Matsui because of a OF/DH logjam. So why in the world would we want Fred Lewis in a Matsui trade?

Seeing as Cashman is not crazy or an idiot my only thought is that he wants to put Lewis in a package for another piece. Possibly Damaso Marte. Purely speculative on my part, but I think that it makes sense.

Rebecca, at least the Yanks will get a supplimental pick out of it. For NYY, that usually is an expensive erly mid 1st round pick. NYY pays over slot and gets some great talent on the draft eligibles that fall through because of bonuses.

A-Point- Mariano has been our MVP forever. Would you really would have preferred him to have been an ACE starter? He helped us win many more games in relief then he ever could have as a starter, & Joba has the chance to be just as automatic & dominant, & I believe has a better chance to be dominant far longer out of the pen than as a starter. We're much stronger now in starting pitching than in relief so that is where he belongs.

Randy you don't have a clue as to what I know. I'm not some kid still wet behind the ears.

I've been living on my own for over 40 years, and I have had times where I was without a job. So, yes, I personally had to worry about late fees. I have earned my own way in life, I have never taken unemployment despite the fact that I could have. I never take handouts, period.

I have no sympathy for people who whine and cry over a $600 a month rent or a $100 late fee. I've had times when I worked 3 jobs to make ends meet. If I came up short then I sold things or did whatever else I could.

Griping on the rent he charges is plain out BS. This isn't soviet Russia where you are told where to live. The tenents chose to live there, to rent there. It is their obligation to pay the fee. If there are true concerns over the conditions of the housing then there are government agencies that would be called in to ensure they are corrected. Notice that was not reported as being the case in this hatchet job.

I was brought up to earn your own way. To take responsibility for your own self and actions. This is not supposed to be a socialistic society, yet that is what it is becoming.
