You know Pete I keep thinking about this whole arod fiasco. I cannot help but think arod is still behind it all. At the end of all this arod got more money, the yanks have to spend more, and Boras looks like a goat and arod comes out smelling like a rose. What if arod is the one who wanted to opt out and when it went bad and not so many players were willing to shell out the kind of dough arod thought he was going to get he realized then he made a huge mistake. So he cooks up this idea that it was all boras’s fault. Stay with me here. So Boras says “whatever you want. I will take the heat. That is my job” He never fired boras and supposedly worked out this deal with the yankees all on his own without ever consulting boras about the language of the contract? So in the end he got what he want and since he said it will be his last contract he need not worry about the public image of him using boras again for another contract so this plays out well in the public eye for him. Boras comes out as the bad guy but really he just got his client more money. Well I guess I have been watching too may oliver stone movies. I think arod is a good player but I still think it would have been better shelling out that dough to team players and not selfish egomaniacs. If I thought he was a team player I would be happy for him to get that contract. Anyway that is my conspiracy theory

Yo Mo! Did you see me mention you or your ramblings anywhere in my comments? Perhaps there is a moron here but you would do well to look within rather than spewing your trash talk. Maybe you’re the real ignorant person who doesn’t read very well. Season ticket holder where? Not the Bronx! And why claim selfishness by Arod? What did he say or do this past season that was so selfish you feel the need to completely disrepect his attempts to be a Yankee? Maybe he did seek more money ~~SO WHAT~~ don’t we all want more tomorrow than we got today? If not then fire the Unions and agents throughout the country and everyone be satisfied with what you have now. Maybe he opted out of his contract because he had the foresight to get it in writing that he could. The Yanks agreed and everyone signed but now he’s being selfish. I keep forgetting the post season failures have all been his fault and his alone. Go figure. Say what you want but I’m glad he’s staying and the next ten years will be sweet. Remember there’s always the Mets or maybe you’re really a Sox fan! Thanks Arod, glad to have you staying in pinstripes. Yo GO MO!!! No I really mean it, go MO, go far far away.

.i am paying something when you say that i “dont have to “BUY IT” because i am not paying nada”. I am a season ticket holder. that is how they pay arod and players alike this kind of money. jeter, mariano, those guys have heart and know what winning is all about. thats why they get that money. arod is a media circus waiting to happen every single october. also, he just cant hit in the postseason (other than his home run when we were down 6 runs in the 8th inning against the indians) PERIOD!

i would have liked to move on without him

Say what you will about Alex, he speaks from the heart. No, he is not suave like Derek Jeter, in that he can censor himself when he needs to, but he is sincere. I can totally believe everything he said today based on his flip statements in the past about Jeter being overrated, how he loves New York, etc. I think he is a guy that speaks first and worries about what he says later. I could hear in his voice how upset he was about this whole “debacle.”

And I can definitely see how a guy who has been close to his agent since 16, can believe everything his agent says. We all know how much Alex wants to be liked – by everyone.

It is the agent’s job to represent his client and I think Boras had Alex hoodwinked. It seems to me that all Boras wanted was another record setting contract (with any of the 30 teams) and he didn’t care about where Alex wanted to be.

Lucky for Alex, he had the good sense to marry a woman a little older and wiser. Cynthia probably helped him out on this one too.

since we got the best player on the planet we havent gotten passed the ALDS more than once and have yet to see the world series. before we got the best player on the planet we went to the world series 6 times, won 4 of them. YAY AROD, lets give him a signing bonus!!!!!

I think the bottom line is he wanted to be a Yank but also wanted to test what the market was. If when he called Hank and Hank “only” offered him $200m-$230m instead of the $275m I think he definitely would of stayed out on the market and tried to get more money else where. I think his biggest thing was he saw the market was very limited and he wanted the most money and once he heard $275m from the Yanks he figured that was enough. When Arod said he heard that they weren’t interested maybe his rat agent said I told them a certain amount and they wouldn’t come close it but Arod didn’t know the amount was a crazy $350m. No matter what Arod is not as mad at the rat agent as people want to make it out to believe because if he was he would of fired him. Boras knew exactly what he was going to say today, it was planned to be put on Boras to make Arod look better. Plain and simple there plan didn’t work.

Dee- I’m sure there would have been interest IF the Yankees had said no, he wants to keep playing baseball. But his first choice was the Yankees, he’s said that all along, his teams were surprised by the opt…I tend to believe that.

I can even by that he was lead by Boras in to believing that the Yankees didn’t want him back. Boras probabl took the reject of you have to offer at least $350 mil to talk to A-Rod and spun it to look the other way. Boras is someone close to Alex, knows his fears and the way his mind thinks I don’t think it was that diffcult for Boras to do (he’s good at that kind of thing). I as a stranger to Alex someone he doesn’t know or trust would have not been able to sell that lie to Alex.

Also I’m okay with it all because Alex took full responsibility for the opt out and the misunderstanding, he was just explaining what was going through his head when he did it.

I love Alex for his talent as a baseball player, but I question his sincerity as a person. To me he lost all credibility when he said “there was enormous interest from other team but I didn’t even want to hear what those offers were, I only wanted to come back to be a yankee…”

I’m glad he’s back and will cheer as loudly for him as ever (I’ve never booed him) but it’s very hard for me to believe that he didn’t care about other offers…
