Why should Pettitte apologize? HGH is not illegal and he did it to heal himself.

Did Tommy John apologize for Tommy John surgery? He certainly use the surgery to heal himself with a "new" ligament. Did that take away an opportunity from another pitcher with an "old" ligament? At the time, the surgery was outside the norm and certainly was not prescribed by any doctor except for Dr. Andrews.

Andy, you are the best. No need to apologize.

Pete, You are right on.

i am amazed how fans make excuses for these players. How the defend them even when you would have to be a fool to do so...like the folks who stood behind Pete Rose...untill he fessed up..and made those supporters look like fools.

'I didn't do it to give me an edge'..Gimme a break...

Who says HGH is illegal without a prescription???? I can find pages of HGH products on any site that sells vitamins on the web! What form of HGH did Pettitte take? I think Peter has dramatically overreacted here. Many respectable books have been written extolling the virtues of HGH for older people to take as a regular, continuing therapy to increase muscle mass, reduce the effects of ageing and increase libido. It is not an evil drug. It is a substance that everybody's body produces naturally. It has many very necessary and important functions in our body and we would quickly age and die without it!!!!

Who concerns themselves with what other teams are doing? That's not the standard anyone(especially a Yankee) should use to determine right from wrong.NY Yankee players that thinks this is ok, just because 1)everybody else was doing it.2)It levels the playing field.3)It was wasn't aganist the rules at the time(so it wasn't cheating)is lying to himself. We know right from wrong whether there's a law spelling it out.THERE ARE NO NUTRITION FACTS LISTED ON DRUGS FOR A REASON.

"Maybe I’m delusional, but it seems to me like Pettitte was attempting to apologize…"

No, you're just a blind yankee homer.

I was 10 years old when the Yanks won the 96 series. The Yankees from that stretch were my idols and like gods to me. It's like if Milli Vanilli was your favorite band...

The 2000 World Series had 47 innings pitched by the Yankees. 30.2 of those innings were pitched by players named on the report, with a 3-0 record.

There is no way this ends good. Thursday was baseball's darkest day since the black sox scandal. Although, it was definetely necessary and I think baseball handled it decently. (I would say they handled it well, but they had essentially a red sox employee doing the whole thing)
