And the Norwich Bulletin misses you Pete! Going from the horde to NY press scene must have been something else.
I'm a Husky fan from way back, the Corny Thompson days. Oh when we were on the cusp, the breakout year of 1989, the dream season of 1990, the fulfillment in 1999...
That said, Dickie V is passionate, and as such wears on some and instills adoration on others. You're not the first writer I've read or heard say the man is genuine. Well, good for him, and hope he gets well.
I dislike that tobacco stained university not because of their success on the basketball court but because I know too many alumni. One alumnus was our corporate counsel who is currently serving time for insider trading.

Ken, you are 100% on target. He is absolutely atrocious. I wish him good health, and a long, LONG period for recuperation away from the game.

Dick Vitale wrote an article in Readers Digest in 1994 about Jim Valvano. It was so motivating that I carry it around with me whenever I need a boost.

Wishing a speedy recovery,

Dick Vitale is the most annoying, jackass commentator/analyst I have ever come across.

I would never wish throat surgery on a person, but if this helps minimize all the "Its Aweeeesome BABY" bull$hit then hallelujah.

Watching a game with Dickie V announcing is better than watching it without him. And he is a good guy. Met him when I was at Maryland and he was in town for a terps game. Super nice guy.

I remember when Dickie V. started out on ESPN& brought great passion & energy to college basketball & actually helped to popularize the game. While I wish him well in his current battle, he has become a redundant noise maker who truly detracts from the games he is broadcasting & is absolutely annoying to have to listen to. He talks incessantly about everything but the game in progress. Like other great announcers like Howard Cosell & Keith Jackson, who pretty much sucked at the end, his act has grown weary & he is no longer a welcome addition to any game he is supposed to be analyzing.
