RVA Yanks-

Fenway's not a bad place to be, really, because there are so many Yanks fans anyways. Try to get tix in the right field corner, that's where all the Yankees fans are.

Spike Owen - Man I wish I had lived closer to New York when we were dominant (at the time of our late 90s dynasty I lived in San Francisco) but I went to a lot of A's-Yanks games. Now A's fans aren't too bad, they'll heckle you a bit and talk a little smack. No problem. Now if you were to stand up and say, rip on Giambi at the time he played with the A's, they'd get in your face and get you to shut up. Mind you, I was also about 16 at the time.

I asked because one day I'd like to go up to Fenway and watch the Yankees play. I've never seen the Yanks play anyone else but the Orioles and A's (I now live in Virginia) since they were the closest AL teams that played us to me.

The fun part will be when the Colts beat the Pats in the AFC Championship making any "undefeated regular season" just another sports asterisk...

Who really cares about the Patriots here in NY? Lets support the Giants and hopefully they can go further in the playoffs than the last two years.

small schools,

i go to BC, too. but no matter who goes to bc, it still falls under the "boston sports team" umbrella. BC has been THE college team to follow in the boston area since forever.

sorry, but you're guilty, too.

pete, this is a new york blog and westchester (i.e. Tri-State) newspaper, if you and devaney wanna ask tom brady out for a date like the rest of america then get a job with the globe or the herald.

While writing about the Yankees (or the Mets, Knicks, Nets, Devils, Islanders or Rangers), you must always always always put the Jets and Giants at the top of your list of favorite teams, at least in public. I don't care if Robert Kraft is your great-uncle, when you write about the Yankees, the New England Patriots should be the reincarnation of Jordan's Bulls. Please come to your senses, and don't ever wax poetic about Beantown and Boston sports again (unless it's Boston College, where I go to school; but then again there's as many kids there from greater NY as greater Boston, so it's a different scenario).

Yid Army-

Fenway can get bad. I remember getting heckled as a 10-year-old.

When I was in high school, I went with a friend to a Saturday afternoon Clemens-Pedro duel. All game, I had some non-friendly banter with some college kids behind us. Now I'm not stupid, I don't go there looking for trouble (especially back then when the Yankees fans didn't have to because they were so dominant), but they talk trash all game to Yanks fans. I think the score was 1-1, but it was the top of 9 and Soriano hit a solo homer. I stood up, didn't say a word, and just started clapping. They all said they were gonna kick my ass after the game. Luckily there was a guy with a bald head, pinstriped cutoff jersey, and a tattoo of the facade around his monsterous arms. He told the kids to shut up, but that was the only time I felt like I was going to truly get my ass kicked at a game.

They talk a lot of trash, but usually wind up fighting each other. Also, my cousin was at the Pedro-Zimmer game, and said that after the game it was like a riot, fights everywhere. So it does get rough.

I'd compare it to a KC Chiefs fan in Oakland. Be prepared.

Spike Owen - I've never been to Fenway before but I am curious how rowdy Red Sox fans are with Yankee fans. Is it bad like if a Sox fan tried to sit in the right field bleachers at Yankee Stadium? Or are they just playful?

The last time I wore my Eli Manning jersey at FedEx Field when they played the Skins I had about 5 people threaten to kick my behind. That's about the worst I've had it at a sporting event, rooting for the other team. (Nothing happened, those Skins fans were all talk. They called a guy with a L.T. jersey the n-word though, which was classless. Maybe it was just my section.)

Astorian - I just got a shiny new Keane shirt for Christmas so I have to waiver some support for my THFC boys! Yes we lost the NL derby yet again, but Jamie O'Hara had a solid first match with us. If only Keane didn't hit the damn crossbar.. or had his penalty saved..

Come on you Spurs!
