I agree — it’s the fourth time now that the media has cried that Clemens hasn’t done “X.” Then he does it, and there’s a “Y” that he hasn’t done (respond to Mitchell, respond with his own direct statement, respond out of his own mouth, answer questions.

Do we know if Rocket did it or not? No.

But I do find the crucify-first and ask questions later process quite disturbing.

The best hitter of the era and the best pitcher of the era are accused of using PEDs.

The best hitter combats the press and defiant. So far, he did not succeed in convincing any one that he did not use PEDs.

The best pitcher is taking a clue from Bill Clinton and using the media, especially 60 minutes to his advantage. May be, he will succeed just like Clinton did.

As far as I am concerned, Clemens is innocent until it is proven with concrete evidence that he took PEDs. McNamee saying things to Feds under duress is not proof enough.

Now, with due respect to Pete’s request/opinion that Clemens should give a chance to the press, I do not see the need for Clemens to give a chance to these mor*ons and hacks. Given what they have written since Mitchell’s report, they do not deserve it.

The NY press, and the baseball press at large, is generally treating Mitchell’s word as though Mitchell is something more than a career politician/fixer who’s being paid by Bud.

Give everybody a chance to do what?
