    Okay…

    Yankee Chick is HAWT!

Something about Yankee’s Chick that scares me… just a *gut* feeling..

    Yankees Chick’s name is Maureen.

  5. Yankees Chick December 24th, 2007 at 3:24 pm

I scare you, Fleas? :( I’m a nice girl, I promise. What is it that scares you?

  6. Taco Bell Lover December 24th, 2007 at 3:24 pm

And no, Maureen is not hot.

    Jessica Alba is hot.

  7. Yankees Chick December 24th, 2007 at 3:26 pm

Have to agree on that one Taco Bell… I never claimed to be hot. Personally I gotta say J-Biel is better than J-Alba though.

  8. fleas December 24th, 2007 at 3:29 pm

All I know is that if the Yankee’s don’t get Johan, and the Sox do.. I am going to freak out.. and all you that want to give the kids a chance (which i do too, but I’m going with Santana first) by the end of ’08 you will be wishing differently.

Don’t give me this.. “I’d rather have the 3 kids over Santana” garbage either.. No one is trading all three kids for him. And unless by some miracle for the twins, kennedy goes with hughes.. it will still only be two. We all know that is not happening.

Melky goes.. so what! He is not an all-star caliber player and never ever ever will be. Get over youself about that.

That said, I DO like Melky, but him not being replaceable is ridiculous.

    Hmm

    1) Santana, Wang, Pet, Kennedy, Moose

    or

    2) Pet, Wang, Hughes, Kennedy, Moose

(Granted Joba is slated to start, but sub for moose, or use in BP)

I’m going with option 1! Hands down.

All of you who base your trade opinion on payroll, luxury tax.. annual salary.. etc just need to be muted. The Yankees Corporation, LLC is worth over a BILLION dollars. An extra 20 Mil a year is not going to “break the bank”!!

Just think, If the Yearly Payroll was 300 MIl that still would not take anything away from the Yankees being a profitable company! Not to mention the YES network. So stop it already about worrying about what’s in the Yankees bank account.

  9. fleas December 24th, 2007 at 3:40 pm

    On another note:

You’d think by now Johan would have said something already. Other than, I prefer NY or Boston. Why does he not do what other players do with a full NTC? I want to go HERE and that is that.

That takes Smith off the hook with PR/Twins Fans, “What could I do, Johan said I’ll only go here.. so I did great considering that! Which is far better than 2 picks”, says Smith.

Maybe it is true.. Johan really prefers Boston, since the Sox have a horrible package to offer with “Corvelli Loyce Crisp”/Lester/Lowrie/Masterson … If the Yankee’s had these 4 to trade, I’d even throw in Kennedy for good measure!! (You get my point).

If the Sox pull of a trade with the above, it has to be all Johan. (The sox will dump crisp regardless, since they have Ellsbury) So Lester/Lowries/Masterson vs Hughes/Cabrera/Horne ….. ARE YOU HECKIN KIDDING ME????

think about it people.. you are Johan, you have a full NTC… why not for the first time in your career say, “I always wanted to play for , make it happen!”

Can it be that he really does not have a preference?

Yankees Chick is a solid reason why Red Sox Nation is such a silly college cowtown fallacy derived since 2004.
Being a California chick, the very instant she steps foot in the Pacific, the world becomes Yankee Universe.

  11. fleas December 24th, 2007 at 3:46 pm

    Yankee Chick,

I dunno you personally, so don’t take what I said so literally. You just remind me of this friend of mines ex, who was a completely basket case.

You seem sweet enough, just watching your video made my gut wrench since it reminded me of someone else. Sorry if I was being lame.

  12. Matt December 24th, 2007 at 3:50 pm

    Fleas :

In all likelihood Santana has said little with the advice of his agent, Peter Greenberg.
He has told former teammate Torii Hunter and his current manager (Ron Gardenhire) about his wanting to pitch on the big stage but since season’s end he’s clamed up.

  13. Dr. Acula December 24th, 2007 at 3:50 pm

Hey Taco Bell, don’t be a playa hata.

Shouldn’t you be killing rats on 3rd street ??.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su0U37w2tws

Look, I have really good taste and I’ve been really lucky, so I can say with authority, Jessica Alba doesn’t get my bat going.

Yankee Chick, take it from me, comments like come from an envious place.

To quote the great Steve Spurrier, “If you aren’t a Gator and we’re scoring a lot and I’m calling the plays, you aren’t going to like me. Winners admire other winners, and losers resent winners.”

    merry christmas everyone!!!

kudos for yankee chick for stepping between the lines and going on camera. whether it’s on a baseball field or on a video blog or on a stage it takes courage to perform. and she’s got some charisma.

i remember once once while watching a two person beach volleyball tournament with friends in florida that a tall college age girl who no one was paying much attention to, dove in the sand a few feet in front of us knocking her oakleys off. when she looked up we were all like wow, cute girl. she never won a tournament on our beach. she never attracted that much attention. she couldn’t jump;she was slow. about 5 years later she was nikes cover girl. her name was gabriella reece.

she had her flaws, but she competed with all she had. it turns out , with a little talent, that’s all you need sometimes.

Got any idea as to why people weren’t paying attention to Gabriella Reece? Was it simply cuz she’s tall ?

I swear, I never got that – guys who are intimidated. As Joe McCarthy said, “ya’ll never be a .300 hitter, if you don’t take the bat off ya shoulder.”

    dr. acula-

it was partly because she was tall(6’3″), but it was because there was also a lot of other competition at the beach . she was attractive, but not drop dead gorgeous. the regular beach v-ball players really didn’t even notice her for a while. she never beat our top female player even once over a two year period. what she had that eventually set her apart was an intense drive. much of her wonder woman athleticism was hype. she ended up in 4 person pro beach volley ball because it masked her slowness. she could just plant herself and block and hit.

it was a life lesson watching her career unfold. if she would have focused on what she didn’t do well ,she wouldn’t have gotten anywhere. the lesson is to push your talents, compete, and see where it takes you.

  68. â™ fleas December 25th, 2007 at 10:26 am

    Hmm..

I’ll say it again, “It’s looking more and more like the Twins (Bill) overplayed his hand).

Which is what we want, let them keep Santana another year. If they try and trade him by July… hopefully, Johan denies it and goes FA. Doubt it!

Just maybe a deal nobody has seen coming will be in the works after the holidays.

If what Ortiz says is true…. although Ortiz did say that Pedro would never go to the Mets.

  69. Mark December 25th, 2007 at 10:36 am

    Utility Man :

Wells and many other players have disliked Boston with the fans there being star struck and not allowing personalities privacy at public places without hounding for autographs, pictures, etc.
NYC is used to celebs all the time and give them “space”. Many players complain how small the clubhouse is and the general smallness of the area and activities.

Thanks for your posting about playing in Boston.

I think there is a way to get Johan now, without giving up Mr Hughes!
Im sure the Twins were trying to do the best they could, but I also feel that when you get too greedy, you get burned!!
I like this::: Kennedy,Tabata,Horne,Cabrera…oh and some fruitcake too.

  73. â™ fleas December 25th, 2007 at 11:37 am

    UtilityMan,

I do agree that the Twins missed their best shot.

Now if the Yanks, can pull off the deal you say.. Kennedy,Tabata,Horne,Cabrera
I would be very very happy..

Honestly, that deal seem to me fairly equal to bostons Lester,Masterson,Lowrie,Crisp

So why are we getting raped? Let the sox give both Bucholtz/Lester like the Twins keep asking us for Hughes/Kennedy *Ain’t happening!

  74. UtilityMan December 25th, 2007 at 11:47 am

If the Twins are stupid enough to accept a package that has Crisp in it,so that Boston can keep Ellsbury in CF in Fenway, they had better make sure that Bucholtz is in it.

There was a time (Sat Dec 1st) that I really thought the Yankees were gonna get Santana for the Hughes package….now I dont think we will be seeing Hughes traded anywheres.I too would have made the trade at the time, but now I would say “Hughes is off the table, just like we told ya Joba was from the beginning”.

  75. Vince December 25th, 2007 at 11:50 am

    Here is a thought…
If the Yanks do not get Santana (which looks to be the case), maybe they should consider using Horne as one of the Starters in 08 since he he could probably pitch 180+ innings (150+ innings in 07), which means that along with IPK, who could probably pitch 195+ innings in 08 (165 innings in 07),the Yanks would be in better shape as far as starters go.

That would give them a rotation of Wang, Pettite, Kennedy, Horne, and Hughes (Moose pitching some in place of Hughes), with Joba used in the pen one more year until 09 when both Moose and Pettite will be gone, and some of the upcoming young guns will be ready to take over bullpen duties like Sanchez, Brackman, Melancon, J. Cox, Marquez, McCutchen and others. Both Joba and Hughes will probably only pitch a max. of 150 innings in 08.

    ET2012 -

You may not be far off the mark with Horne. It all depends on how he looks in spring training. If he’s willing to accept the role, Mussina could be a swingman for a few situations.
    March will tell the story.

    Dr. Acula,

Missed your posts around here.. Who is that insanely hot “Santa’s Little Helper” in your name link? She is gorgeous!

Where do you get all these awesome pics, btw? Are you a professional photographer?

(Pete leaves us alone long enough and this is the kind of thing that can happen… Inspired by Dr. Acula, with apologies to Sondheim and Johan Santana)

    HE’S SO LEFTY
    (Santana’s Song)

    He’s a lefty,
    Such a lefty,
He’s a lefty, with grit and with might!
    And I pity
    Any lefty not Johan tonight.

    He feels lefty,
    Oh, so lefty – -
    He’s so deftly a lefty that’s he,
    And so costly
That he hardly can believe his fee.

See the pretty lefty in that mirror there:
Who can that pinstriped pitcher be?
    Such a pretty changeup,
    Such a pretty fastball,
    Such a pretty goatee,
    Such a pretty he!

    He’s so stunning
    And entrancing–
Feel like running and dancing with glee,
    For he’s loved
    By a pretty wonderful tea-m!

    He’s a lefty,
    What a lefty,
That the city should give him its key.
    A committee
Should be organized to honor he.

    He feels dizzy
    He feels sunny,
He feels fizzy and funny and fine,
    And so lefty,
Mr. Beckett, you can just resign!

“you’re a natural for creative advertisement!”

Thanks. I always knew law was a big mistake. I was told a long time ago, there are no funny lawyers, only people who made bad career decisions.

But that commercial just goes to show how incredible West Side Story is, that a number like that works, overcomes a dumb Nike commercial, and still evokes emotion even out of context.

Brandon–Isiah Thomas wanted to draft Bynum, but Bynum was young. He came into the league age 17. You know the NY media would’ve ate him alive the last couple of years and probably stunt his development. Channing Frye isn’t exactly a bust. He’s a productive big man. You can’t find many of those around.

Isiah has a good eye when drafting players. His problem is making trades. Isiah doesn’t make good trades and hands a ton of money to a bunch of bums.

Looks like McNamee wants closure. He’s sticking to his story.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/spo....._roge.html

  108. murphydog December 26th, 2007 at 10:05 am

If I had to guess as to Rocket’s main points in his 60 Minutes Interview it would be these:

Q: Did McNamee ever inject you with anything?

A: McNamee injected me numerous times, but I never thought it was anything other than authorized substances, like B 12. I never ever asked him to inject me with PEDs. If he had told me that he was going to use PEDs, I would have said don’t do it. But assuming for argument’s sake that he did inject me with PEDs, people ask why he would he do that if I didn’t ask him to? Maybe he thought that if I continued to perform well, I would hold him in high regard as a trainer and keep him on. So it would have been in his economic interests to inject me with a PED without telling me. But as far as I can possibly know, that didn’t happen.

Q: How can you be so sure?

A: I never voluntarily took any PEDs. I never failed a test. Add that to the fact that McNamee never told me he was adding PEDs to the injections and it’s clear that I had no way of knowing if McNamee did inject me with PEDs. The absence of a failed test also says that McNamee was lying to Mitchell. If I was juicing, why didn’t it show up?

Q: You have to admit it looks bad. You are well over 40, an age when most pitchers can’t play anymore and you are still pitching; Pettite said McNamee was right about him and McNamee under penalty of perjury says you did it.

A: I think it looks bad for McNamee and Mitchell. McNamee is a liar. It’s obvious that McNamee lied about his actions in the Florida rape case a few years ago, and that the victim was drugged without her knowledge. That’s a very important point from the perspective of who McNamee is. He’s a creep who’s not above drugging someone against their wishes. He also lies when he’s caught. But in my case, he said several times previously on the record that I did not use steroids. When he says the opposite now, it should weaken his credibility not strengthen it. As for the fact that it looks “bad” that I am still pitching, I have worked hard at training all my career. I have adapted the way I pitch, I only play half a season. Those are the reasons I’m still playing, not PEDs.

Q: Why would McNamee lie and risk more jail?

A: Same reason lots of people in his predicament lie. He’s caught, he’s a bad guy to begin with, he’s lied to the cops before, so he took a calculated risk. He wanted to reduce his exposure to jail so he picked a big name that some people were only too ready to believe was juicing, and he threw me under the bus. He made statements that were impossible to verify because only McNamee and I were present at the times he described. It’s a swearing contest pitting me against an obvious liar and yet I’m the one who has to prove my innocence. That should tell you what’s wrong here.

Q: But Senator Mitchell has a great reputation and he’s very careful.

A: Understand what happened here. Mitchell was asked by the Commissioner to clean this up. He was under a lot of pressure after two years and $60 million to come up with something so Congress wouldn’t jump on Selig’s back. Mitchell wanted so badly to believe McNamee that he didn’t weigh what McNamee said against the times he lied, against his personal interest in saying whatever it took to get him a deal. Shame on Mitchell. Even a good guy like him can make a mistake and this time he did.

FWIW-In an article mostly about luxury tax, Murray Chass is reporting that the Twins have dropped their demand of Kennedy & are willing to substitute Marquez.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12.....ref=slogin

  111. Anthony December 26th, 2007 at 10:26 am

I think if the Twins really are asking for Hughes, Marquez, and Melky, this deal is going to be getting done very soon. I really like Hughes, but he’s young and will hit free agency before he’s 30, so we can always try to get him back then if he turns into anything.

  112. ET2012 December 26th, 2007 at 10:32 am

Twins know that the value of Hughes=Bucholtz, and we know that Bosox are not parting with him. All the rant about Elsbury, he is just a speedy Melky. Marquez is just as good as Masterson, no matter how much they try to package him.

Is this rumor is true, it might be extremely tempting to Hank, and he might just pull the trigger. They need to trade one of two though: Matsui, Moose or both…

  113. Jeff NJ December 26th, 2007 at 10:33 am

Anthony, I agree. No way Hank doesn’t bite at Hughes, Melky and Marquez, although I suspect we would add another prospect and maybe get back a low level prospect.

I worry about what we’ll do with CF, but hopefully Damon can be productive for 2 years and then re-lose his job this time to Jackson or Tabata.

  114. murphydog December 26th, 2007 at 10:38 am

I don’t think CF will be a dire problem if Melky goes. True, the OF will take a hit in deterring runners and 3d base coaches. But, what’s the projected improvement in the win column with Santana over Melky? I think over a season, Santana adds more wins.

  115. Matt December 26th, 2007 at 11:02 am

I suspect that Brett Garner’s progress will be watched closely in spring training in the event that a late March deal for Santana takes place involving Melky.
What the Yankee pitching look like during March dictates any move.

    murphydog-
is clemens purpose strictly for pr purposes and the hall of fame vote or are there legal repercussions to clemens doing the interview?

one thing that bothers me is i wonder what the conversation was when authorities offered immunity against prosecution to mc namee.
did someone say,” tell the truth and get immunity even though we may not be interested in anything you tell”, or did they say,” tell us something big and we’ll give you immunity if you don’t lie”.

if mc namee was in trouble for distributing steroids in his personal training business that had nothing to do with baseball, he could have figured i’ll give up clemens name because that’ll get me off and they can’t prove i’m lying about saying i gave clemens peds.

the fact he threw clemens under the bus may have seemed to mc namee a price he had to pay for a get out of free jail card.
i am extremely skeptical of mitchell saying mc namee had no incentive to lie because he had to tell the truth to get immunity. for a legal mind like mitchell, this looks like he’s trying to pander to the public that is not smart enough to see through the logical fallacy that mitchell is putting out for the sports pages.

yet mitchell puts it out there. i’m not sure mitchell is such an honorable person. my instincts are that he’s not.

  118. Anthony December 26th, 2007 at 11:36 am

If Melky is dealt, Matsui is definitely not going anywhere. We need to have a Major League outfield and Jones, Rowand, and Hunter are all gone. If Austin Jackson shows himself ready for promotion by the end of the year, then we can think about trading Matsui or Damon. Or just holding onto them and waiting for Abreu’s contract to end. Moose may be traded though. I would think they’d wait until before the trade deadline to see how the rotation with Joba and Kennedy is doing before trading him. Plus, you could probably wheedle a good deal from a playoff hungry NL team for Moose in July.

  119. E-ROC December 26th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

I hope the Yanks don’t trade for Santana.

  120. NYPD113th December 26th, 2007 at 12:20 pm

“All the rant about Elsbury, he is just a speedy Melky. ”

–Melky is a .270 hitter and a very average OFer with a great arm. ellsbury’s upside is huge. Melky’s “value” is a total concoction by the NY Yankees.

  121. Anthony December 26th, 2007 at 12:30 pm

Why do you say Ellsbury’s upside is so high? Is it the fact that he has very little power? Or that he had an incredible month or two in the majors- since nobody else has ever done that and gone on to suck?

I agree that Ellsbury is probably better than Melky to some degree, but I’m not convinced that he’s a superstar or will be a superstar. Let’s see him play a full season first. And remember that Melky had the numbers in the minors, too. He’s only 23.

  122. saucy December 26th, 2007 at 12:33 pm

“Why do you say Ellsbury’s upside is so high? ”

    cause he’s a sox fan/homer…

“Melky is a .270 hitter and a very average OFer with a great arm. ellsbury’s upside is huge. Melky’s “value” is a total concoction by the NY Yankees.”

hahaha Jacoby is a legitimate prospect but this is typical Sox fan bs.

    A. Melky is a .275 career hitter, but has certainly had 33 game stretches where he was much better than that.

    B. HOFamer Jacoby’s career consists of 33 games and 116 at bats. Melky is a year younger, but over his 286 games and 1,024 at bats has experienced the adjustments major league pitchers make on batters. Melky has shown he can be a consistent hitter. Jacoby has not. Any comparison is nonsense until Jacoby gets 1,000 or so at bats under his belt.

IMO both the Yankees and Red Sox are foolish to let either player stand in the way of acquiring Johan Santana.

  124. NYPD113th December 26th, 2007 at 1:08 pm

“Why do you say Ellsbury’s upside is so high? ”

–Because I read what the scouts say. They get paid to analyze and scout what these players may be.

Funny how I get ripped for claiming that Jacoby has a huge upside from a fanbase that calls Hughes Phranchise and “The Next Rocket”.

  125. saucy December 26th, 2007 at 1:27 pm

here’s a novel concept, go see how fans at a sox site respond to your claims…

my guess is they greet you with opened arms

  126. NYPD113th December 26th, 2007 at 1:33 pm

“here’s a novel concept, go see how fans at a sox site respond to your claims…

my guess is they greet you with opened arms”

–For some reason I feel so much smarter on these Yankee sites. ;)

  127. Old Yanks Fan December 26th, 2007 at 2:05 pm

Guys – I have been a Yankees fan for 43 years. I would take Ellsbury over Melky. He does not have much power and is NOT a ‘super star’ but is still a talented player with more tools then Melky. Melky has a much better arm, but Ellsbury is a better defender, has more plate discipline and flys on the bases.

I hate it when Sox fans are extreme ‘Homers’ about their players. I don’t think Yankees fans should be the same way.

  128. Dr. Acula December 26th, 2007 at 4:41 pm

NYPD hasn’t been the same since Kojak retired.
