Well, we didn't make Pete's cut this time, but here is what we wrote to him... Maybe someone else will want to check out the blog?

Peter,

It is very generous of you to allow guest bloggers on a site that has become the industry standard for beat writer blogs. Many bloggers would hoard this kind of attention only for themselves but it seems that you want to give back to the little guys. We would like to post an entry or two to gain some exposure for our humble little site: http://www.nyystadiuminsider.com with its very own forum at http://nyystadiuminsider.yuku.com.

I think NYY Stadium Insider would be a good candidate to participate in your guest blogging for a few reasons.

First, I understand the blog's style. It doesn't take itself too seriously but yet provides valuable information at the same time. It offers the facts that can only be attained by hard journalism but also contains the opinion of the writer for readers to agree/disagree with. Most of all, it is meant for entertainment of the reader.

Second, the writers at NYY Stadium Insider possess the necessary wit in their writing to keep readers laughing and entertained. I'll give you an example of some of the short comedic writing we have done on the Yankees:

Before you made the post predicting the future the other day, one of the contributors to the blog made a post wondering what would happen if he slept for the next three months and woke up in March:

As January rolls along it is time for the serious baseball fan to take a three-month nap. But what would one see upon waking up? My crystal ball knows.

-Johan Santana will be a Yankee. Phil Hughes, Melky Cabrera, and a prospect will not be a Yankee.

-Brian Cashman will look more pale, tired, and dejected than normal.

-Hank will ride Cashman to work every morning.

-Jamie Lyne Spears will be three months pregnant. She will already have lost custody of the child still growing in her womb. The real father will be revealed as R. Kelly.

-The two frontrunner's of both political parties will be spewing pounds of bull out of their mouths like usual. Hillary will be attacked from the right for not serving in Vietnam even though she is a woman. It will be discovered that she is not a woman but in reality an unfeeling robot of doom. Bill will buy old magazines containing pictures of Jamie Lynne Spears.

-Curt Schilling will have made 40 more blog posts. Unbelievably and inconceivably to the human mind each one will be more pompous and self-righteous than the last. In his final post he will declare himself God and will claim to have cured ALS single-handedly.

-The Marlins will say the hell with it and have another fire sale. Of their top AAA players. They will have single-A teams with 70 man rosters all building up for 2035.

-All the midges in Cleveland that faithful night will have completed their short life cycle. Thank God.

-Derek Jeter will have slept with more women in those three months this entire site has in their lifetimes.

-He also will have contracted all 174 varieties of herpes.

-Clay Buchholz will plan the Ocean's Elevens's style heist of Dell Computers Inc.

http://host288.ipowerweb.com/~eve6medi/StadiumInsider/2007/12/what-would-happen-if-serious-yankee-fan.html

The above entry was just something special post-winter meetings when nothing was going on. During the season it is mostly interesting and strange observations going to the stadium day in and day out as a season ticket holder. Feel free to peruse the blog at your leisure to check out some old posts. Again that's http://www.nyystadiuminsider.com. Apart from the witty nature of some NYY Stadium Insider posts, all contributors to the site possess the writing skills necessary to hold up to the standards of your blog.

In addition to running the blog, NYY Stadium Insider runs new, but already successful forums at http://nyystadiuminsider.yuku.com. This shows just how serious we are about giving users good content and displays our loyal base of readers/contributors. We would be honored if you would stop by and register to say hello.

If you enjoy Photoshop humor, you can view this thread on the forum of Yankee Photoshop work that the writers of NYYStadiumInsider.com have made (this is all original work) : http://nyystadiuminsider.yuku.com/topic/420?page=1

Finally let me say that it would be an honor for NYY Stadium Insider to be allowed to post on your site. There are many blogs out on the interwebs and we hear at NYY Stadium Insider truly believe that yours has the best access and is the best written. I hope you will consider our writing team for a guest spot.

Regards,
The NYY Stadium Insider Staff

FYI, this is the REAL Steve Lombardi - and, all the posts above this one were not made by me. Someone is using my name and URL and making posts.

Please ignore any of these false posts in between the time they are posted and the time it takes to remove them. You should not waste any time from your day being concerned with this individual’s attempt at pleasing themselves at my expense.

Joe--Those predictions sound very possible, especially with the Olympics. Host nations usually perform remarkably well...look for China to succeed in gymnastics and swimming and diving especially.

Steve--I don't know football well enough to give you an answer on that.
