I attend the dinner every year. You cannot get auto’s during the dinner. They have security in front of the dais. THey are pretty strict. A few years ago it was very nice and all the players signed but that has stopped the last couple of years.

Yeah but talkig about the Patriots isn’t the only thing to write about.You could have cleared up the rumors of the Yankees being out of the Santana trade or the Yankees are worried about the Santana money.Both are not true yet is on every blog and sports site.

The BBWAA dinner is actually a really good time. My wife & I went in ’99 as guests of a memoribilia merchant who sold my wife my Xmas gift (signed Mantle photo) that year. We got our picture taken w/ the WS Trophy & got to meet many players, coaches, etc.
Jennifer- if you want autographs, it seemed that the pre-dinner, cocktail reception was the time. All attendees were milling around and the various celebs seemed reasonably approachable on that front (my host asked me to carry various things to have signed for him, but that’s not my bag & I respectfully declined).

Slow news cycle for baseball results in some recycling to manufacture content. Nothing new here as the ball remains in the Minny court.

And Jennifer, the Mariners are only in it if they give up stud CF prospect Adam Jones. He is ML ready and projects to be a perfect replacement for Torii Hunter. And dare I say it, is a much better prospect (especially power-wise) than Ellsbury (and Melky).

Sandman: Go find my story on the last day of the winter meetings. The Yankees (and Hank) said the exact same stuff then that was said yesterday. Right down to the Twins checking with them before they make any trade.

Not one thing has changed since Nashville. Same players on the table from all team, same reticence from the Twins.

Great no talk on the SAntana trade even though Hank and the Yankees yesterday just admitted to not only be still interested but how they are best suited to handle Santana contract a whole differant story then what you said yesterday Pete.

Please give us something beside Clemens and dinner and Patriots talk.And that wasn’t a rumor Hank was quoted as to saying he knows the Twins will check on him one last time.Getting intersting because just yesterday eveyblog was saying the Yankees and Mariners were out.
