Another thing, Mr. Mo...it's not really accurate to describe the Stems as "second-class in New York at this time" in any kind of clear-cut fashion...yeah, they collapsed last year, but it's not like the Yankees have done a whole helluva lot in the last 6 or 7 years either, so they and their fans could stand a slice or two of humble pie...

Yo Mo...

I can't see how the Twins would agree with you, especially if the Stems add Martinez, although I think that would make it much too expensive and a bad deal for the Mets...

An additional factor, though I don't know how significant to the Twinkies, is that they'd prefer to trade Santana out of the AL...

To tell you the truth, I don't mind if he goes to the Mets. As long as the Sox don't get him, I really don't care. It's not like the Mets are anything but second-class in New York at this time.

If they had Santana, they wouldn't have had the biggest collapse in baseball history, but if I was the Twins, I like what the Yankees offered, then Red Sox, and then the Mets.

From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune...

MINNEAPOLIS -- Since the Johan Santana sweepstakes began in late November, the Yankees and the Red Sox have been considered the frontrunners in the race for the ace.
But that title may now be shifting to another club -- the Mets.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Thursday that the Twins are interested in a package the Mets have offered. It includes top pitching prospect Deolis Guerra, outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitchers Kevin Mulvey and Phil Humber.

The report also stated the deal could be sealed if the Mets agree to also include coveted outfield prospect Fernando Martinez.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Yankees fans!

You can't blame the Twins for playing the market to maximize Santana's trade value...

The Yankees will get Santana if, and only if, they make what the Twins feel is the best offer and the Twins accept it...who knows? maybe the Red Sox will get him instead...you'll just have to wait and wonder...

The Yanks will get Santana. And quite frankly, after the way the Twins pit the Yanks against the Bosox, I don't blame the Yanks for being a little aloof.

Yo Mo, I repeat my earlier question, "Don't the Twins have a say in the matter?"

Maybe the reason the Yankees haven't done it is that Hank is being unilateral and the Twins haven't said that it is acceptable to them!

Some members of Yankees Nation - especially Hank S - seem to have trouble grasping the idea that it takes 2 to tango, and to trade, and the Yankees can't just make any deal and have any player they wish to, without input from the other club!

Wow, you guys have had the wool pulled over your eyes. What Hank is doing is brilliant. By "staying" in the hunt, they force the other teams to improve THEIR offer. Just what is the negative to him saying he's in it, and leaning towards doing the deal? NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's not like their offer has improved. I'm actually surprised the Yankees haven't done it. Hughes, Cabrera, Marquez and a lesser prospect for the best pitcher in the game? If the Yankees can pull this off, hats off to all of them.

Hank's standing behind Cashman saying "Wow, you have two kings"....but Cashman is holding three Aces. Wake up fellas.
