Buddy Biancalana, I was at that game where Berra and Meachem were both thrown out at home plate at the same throw. The image is burned into my mind all these years later. I remembering turning to my friend, who was also my next door neighbor at the time and a good ten to fifteen years older than me, asking him if he had ever seen anything like that. The obvious answer: No!

"if you want to slam the messenger, you have to have an opinion on the message!"

Bernie, if you are asking me whether it is possible that Clemens used PEDs, well, anything is possible. But we're not talking hypotheticals here. We're talking about the report.

Suppose someone told you, Bernie, that the guy in the local hardware store got caught using illegal drugs. You ask the person telling you the story how he knows. The story teller says that he heard that a really bad guy ratted out the guy in the hardware store to avoid jail. The story teller also says that he hears the rat tried to drug and rape a woman and then lied to the cops about it. Wouldn't you be at least skeptical of the hardware store guy's guilt based solely on the story from the rat?

My opinion is that the message in the Mitchell report was incomplete and unreliable. I don't want to leap to a conclusion based on information I find to be defective, otherwise I'd be substituting guesswork for knowledge. Why does that mean I lack cojones? To figure this out you need to use your head, not your cojones.

I too have been a Yankee fan for over 40 years.
Does that give me licience to also be unbearably sanctimonious?
Can I too simply ignor the hundreds, if not thousands of 'cheaters' who have graced MLB over the years, yet feel shame that some of MY guys did wrong?
Can I too believe that players for the Yankees are less human, less prone to mistakes and should live to a higher spiritual standard then everyone else?
Can I too believe that if someone named in the Mitchell report atually did wrong, that it then excuses the political motivation, the conflict of interest, the poor, one-sided (the NY side), incomplete, incomprehensive, witch-hunt document that is the Mitchell report?

Your viewpoint is terribly narrow. There is simply too much wrong with your statments and feelings to address them adequately in this forum.

In regards, to the comment about the Iranian-Japanese pitcher, Iran's government may be maniacal, but Iranians in general tend to be very sensible people. When was the last time you picked up the paper and saw an Iranian-American in trouble with the law? They have been in general a very good immigrant group for the United States. Perhaps Pete should see Persepolis to get an overview on a typical Iranian person and her life in Iran. I don't think anyone would label Marjane Satrapi maniacal.
