Clemens press conference underway

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Jan 07, 2008 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

The Clemens press conference in Houston has been a train wreck so far. Rusty Hardin went on for a while about the situation without saying much.

Now they’re playing the telephone conversation between Clemens and Brian McNamee. So far McNamee sounds like Henry Hill in the last 45 minutes of Goodfellas. He seems desperate and confused.

But McNamee has yet to say anything that would prove Clemens is innocent.

    Rebecca,

Law & Order will have an episode, but they’ll change the names.

God, his son is dying. The sins of the father.

Why doesn’t Roger tell him to do the right thing?

    Dear Fellow Bloggers,

I am at work and cannot turn on a live feed. Can someone please give me a two sentence synopsis?

    Thanks so much.

This has now gone from the ridiculous to the sublime and totally bizarre

Maybe I am missing something but, I don’t know what good playing this tape does for Clemens.

McNamee isn’t saying anything that will exonerate him. At least I haven’t heard anything. Perhaps I missed something.

    Surreal stuff, though.

    kd,

circular conversation. Brian’s desperate and asking Roger, “What do you want me to do”. Roger refuses to answer. Just keeeps saying “I didn’t do this”.

Basically Brian’s son is dying and he’s broke. It’s pretty heartbreaking.

    Kd:

Macnamee: My son is dying. What do you want me to do?
Roger: I don’t know. Give me some time.

Meanwhile, my mother picks an excellent time to ask me to turn the laundry around…

Wow. You can’t make this $hit up.

IMO it is one of the funniest bleepin’ taped conversations I ever heard

Ah, they are playing it to avoid witness tampering charges.

    Makes more sense now.

Also, Clemens can’t say what he wants done (aside from wanting the truth out) because he could be charged with witness tampering.

He has to ride a very fine line here.

However, say this, the guy is coming out swinging which, according to those ready to fry him, have been asking for since the Report was made public.

Roger didn’t have to miss the funeral to be at the press conference. He could have changed the time/date of the press conference.
