17-0 with two more to go

pats.jpgJust returned from seeing the Mighty Patriots upend those stubborn Jacksonville Jaguars.

Weird game in that the Patriots outrushed the Jags yet got terrible play by their defense, especially in the first half. They’ll have to play better defense next Sunday to beat the Colts (or, theoretically, the Chargers). Randy Moss had one catch, another weird thing. But Jacksonville played a two-deep zone, so Brady went to his slot guy, tight end and backs a lot.

I picked the Pats by 10 and they won by 11, so I have no complaints.

Good luck to you Giants fans. It would be something to see an old-school Giants vs. Packers game at Lambeau Field for the NFC title next week.

I’ll be back in New York tomorrow and blogging. Going to visit with my nephew today then drive home.

    – It’s nice that you enjoy the present while still appreciating the PAST.

  6. ummfada

How can a Yankee fan cheer for a team in Massachusetts?

  7. Dr. Acula

It’s nice that you enjoy the present while still appreciating the PAST

I thought Abe Vigoda (Barney Miller) was dead?

  8. Spike Owen

Very classic Pats victory…keep em in it till the end, then go for the kill (Rod INT) late…

  9. Rob

Love to see a repeat of 97 Super Bowl. The top two offenses going at it. Packers 45 Patriots 42.

  10. Spike Owen

    i agree…

except the score..would be great if they both got into the 40’s, though.

  11. Michael

Enjoy spending time with your nephew..Because spending time with your loved ones is more important that some Yankee blog or any sort of job for that matter..

  12. Vader

Abe Vigoda, was Fish and Hal Linden was Barney Miller and they both may be dead.

  13. UtilityMan

Actually they are both alive still…..

    Abe born in 1921

    Hal born in 1931

  14. Mike S.

…and you are talking OLD school. The days of Huff and Taylor, Starr and Tittle. Lombardi and Allie Sherman. The 1961 Title Game at Lambeau, won by the Pack 37-0 behind Hornung. The 1962 Title Game at a cold and windy Yankee Stadium, won again by the Pack. 16-7 on Jerry Kramer’s three field goals.

  15. chazzh

and Cowboys Packers wouldn’t be old school?

Why do all the Patriot fans want the Cowboys to lose so badly- maybe they are worried that is the only NFC team that can score with them?

  16. Manhattan chowder

Let what happens in Massatwoshyts stay in Massatwoshyts. Take away some sports and it’s the BORING capital of the world.

  17. Fran

Ray – I was hoping that the Jaguars would win.

  18. RangerRob

It’s easy to win when they cheat

    – WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially funny coming from a NY Yankee fan, how ironic.

When it comes to the Yanks*, the “everyone does it excuse” is in full force, but for other teams I guesss there are other rules.

Yet again another example of the spoiled brat mentality of the modern Yankees fan.

  20. JoeT YANKEES

    LETS GO G-MEN!!

  21. ansky

i dont think you know what irony actually means.

  22. Southron

What more could any fan ask for than a Pats vs. Colts and a Giants vs. Packers football weekend, and how about the possibility of an all Manning brothers QB superbowl? I know it’s not likely, but it is possible.

    Southron

  23. Taylor

Nobody cares about the Cheatriots on a Yankees site. Who gives a sh*t of a team goes 19-0 when there is a * next to it?

  24. Taylor

Are you stupid enough to not understand what the difference between a PLAYER using PED’s and a TEAM cheating? If you want to put an asterisk next to every team that has had a player on it using PED’s, then I guess you would agree that A) every championship the Pats have won while Rodney Harrison has been on the team is void and B) we haven’t seen a championship in about 15 years.

  25. Travis G.

i’m assuming ‘nypd’ is a pats and sawx fan. that he/she apparently feels the need to visit a website of a team he/she hates to make himself feel better just because his/her teams have enjoyed some recent success is rather pathetic.

remember, what goes around comes around.

and the fact that he/she thinks seems to think the sawx are PED free is laughable.

  26. bad scooter

Screw the Giants. What about a classic Green Bay-Dallas match up again?

  27. Rob

I’ll take a Dallas/GB matchup. Time for Brett to exorcise his Texas Stadium Demons.

  28. ken777

    Travis G.
Nice try, but he is….whatever he is. He can’t take the hints or won’t?

  29. JUSTICE

    (or, theoretically, the Chargers)

    heh….

  30. Ivan

Well.. not its not theoretical anymore.. xD

  31. Save Phil Hughes

    Well..
    I guess it’s the Chargers

  32. Yankees Chick

    theoretically, eh?

    WHAT A GAME!

Please, PLEASE, Chargers… bring a championship to San Diego. My fellow san diegans and i BEG of thee!

  33. Real World

As a Yankees fan in Boston, who loves the Patriots, I can tell you that the * stuff most mental midgits cite, is sheer stupidity. Half of our beloved Yankees are on the juice, and everybody does it. The Patriots get busted video taping signals (which is code fellas), and for some reason, it’s this egregious act that, and the reason why they’d won 3 SuperBowls. Hmmm….if nobody else was doing it, ala the juice in MLB, then why did the league feel the need to send out a letter prior to the season telling all teams to stop? Maybe cuz everybody was doing it. Furthermore, it’s not illegal to tape the other teams signals, it’s simply against the rules to do it from the field. They broke the rules, sure, but let’s call a spade a spade people. In the pats fans forums I post in, I get sox fans who criticize the Yankees & their juice, who don’t like it when I mention Rodney Harrison and his HGH. It’s so funny how homer fans simply can’t be objective.

  34. Steve

The oddest part of this NFL weekend to me was the following:

    Randy Moss: 1 catch
    Plaxico Burress: 1 catch
Terrell Owens: 4 catches – but three of them were possession receptions. Also, Romo missed him on a deep ball and T.O. flat dropped another. I’m thinking that he wasn’t as 100% as he said he was.

But what happened to Randy and Plax? Was the secondary play really that good this weekend?

  35. Steve

Also, anyone who think the Pats aren’t gonna win the Super Bowl this year, is kidding themselves. Unless there’s some weird weather, or Brady gets broken in half, no one in the league can play with them.
