Wow, I’ve been out all day, and trying to catch-up backwards. Hmm, it’s interesting how this post has progressed from Trenton playing SWB to the Yankees outfield lineup.

Sure wish I could go to a Tuesday night game – this sounds like a fantastic idea!

The dude had part of one good year. In high-A ball. He turns 21 in about two weeks.

The likelihood of him being ready next year is very, very low. I was ignoring that possibility in my analysis. If Abreu goes and they sign no one else, it’ll be Matsui, Damon, Melky. Melky’s possibly an above-average right fielder, but he hasn’t played there much and his biggest weakness is getting reads on balls so he can get a good jump.

Abreu’s HRs dropped precipitously in 06, yes. But, given that he was all-around awful for two months last year and then good to AMAZING for the rest of the season, I figure he’s a good rebound candidate.

it’s also odd that you’d sign Cameron, who’s older and an inferior player. I’d much rather have Bobby at 35-36 than Cameron at 36.

im usually on your side. But on this i have to disagree. His homeruns have declined every year since 04. 30 in 04
24 in 05 15 in 06 16 in 07.

Defense Melky >Abreu
Jackson is compared to a Hunter. I had no idea that his defense was lacking. As far as his offense. Im assuming that he continues to progress. Who knows if Abreu’s offense doesnt decline this year. I for one, wouldnt re-sign him. Maybe sign Camaron for a year if our youngins arent ready.

Given that he’d hit 20+ in most seasons before this one — and had an EPIC slump, he’s a good rebound candidate. Also, he’ll only be 34 this year. Signing him for his 35-36 year old seasons is really not that big a deal.

Not hard replacing 16 home runs from our current right fielder. Actually it would be 8. Melky only had 8 less homers in less games.Plus we might actually steal some homers from the opposition. By having someone their that doesnt have FENCEAPHOBIA.

Again, Vlad ALREADY has problems playing in the field on a regular basis. Abreu may be a bit older, but at least he’s healthy.

Also, given his age, it should be a lot easier to get him on a shorter deal. And Vlad won’t be on the market anyway.

because then the whole outfield would be average or below on both offense and defense. Except maybe Matsui on offense in LF. And it’s pretty unlikely that Jackson will be ready.

Why cant we just shift Melky to right and either have Damon in center or bring up Jackson? Its not like we will have any type of power outage.
