Completely off the topic here, but I posted this on the page abour Jorge's chairty bowling event, which is now on a prior page so not sure if anyone would see it.

Jorge has some more pics on his website. A couple of Joba are on there!!

I think it's great to see someone so young in their career giving back to so many charity causes. He's been a busy boy this offseason.

Everyone whining about not signing young players to long term deals are the same people who would complain when a young player suffers a terrible injury or stops maturing as a player and the Yanks are stuck with an albatross contract. Like the complaints about not extending Mo and Posada during spring training last year, these comments reflect hindsight bias.

Cano is one of the most valuable players in baseball. A multi-year deal should definitely be explored. Wang, I'm not so sure about. Pitchers are always inherently more risky, but if his asking price isn't too high, it might be worth it.

mel--I won't host anything where the prize is money. I've got tons of work this semester, but I'll think about it.

Tell you what, let me know if you get a lot of interest (say at least 25 or so) and I'll give it a go =)

Rebecca,

It started out with some crazy predictions for the regular season record in '08.

Point is we might need a nice blogger (like yourself) to host the pool.

It would be in the best interest of the Yanks and Cano to come to an agreement before the hearing. Otherwise Cano is probably going to have to hear that the Yanks think he is lazy and falls asleep during the game. Unless the Yanks have no other argument to win their case.
