18-0 and one more to go

images1.jpegI never expected that the Mighty Patriots could get to the Super Bowl with Tom Brady tossing three interceptions. But as was written here a few weeks ago, they needed to get their running game going and they did. Lawrence Maroney was the difference in the game and Kevin Faulk was huge on third downs.

San Diego was tougher than many people expected. But being held to those field goals early in the game haunted them.

Good luck to you Giants fans. You’ve seen a different Eli Manning for about a month now and if he takes care of the ball the Giants can survive the cold and the Packers.

Who has the better shot to beat the Patriots, Packers or the Gints?

  2. Marc January 20th, 2008 at 6:23 pm

Hell of a leg whip/trip by Vrabel on the Samuel int. Unreal that the referee could be looking right at it and miss that penalty

  3. Marc January 20th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

Either way, the Pats would have won the game even if they called that penalty. It’s just unreal to me that a ref could actually miss a play like that

  4. Peter Abraham January 20th, 2008 at 6:27 pm

Buddy: I’m not sure anybody can beat them on a good surface. But maybe the Giants because they can get pressure on Brady.

Marc: There are missed penalties on every play in every NFL game. Vrabel was getting held like crazy by the tight ends. That stuff all balances out.

    Buddy,

Both are scary for Pats fans. The “weak sister” conference actually has 2 good teams playing their best ball right now. I’d rather face the Cowboys.

But to answer your question, the Packers have a better chance because they have the better QB.

I bet the Giants are licking their chops after watching Brady struggle today. Wonder if they’ll look past the Pack?

    Buddy,

Can’t even think of one cute thing I have ever seen in a football game. Lol

    Not even a cheerleader?

  7. Old Goat January 20th, 2008 at 6:29 pm

The Patriots winning is only slightly less distasteful to me than the Red Sox winning.

  8. Ryan January 20th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

    Screw the Giants. Go Pack!

  9. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Save the Three Musketeers! January 20th, 2008 at 6:33 pm

    Let’s go NFC ;)

I am so glad I am nice and cozy inside

Buddy: To answer your question, my top choice right now is Fordham. I’ve also bookmarked Leeds and Durham, but Fordham’s really the one school where I’m like WANT. NOW.

I am still working on the application. I’m a lazy sod.

    Not even a cheerleader?

    ————————————————-

Somehow I always miss their cute faces by being distracted by their pom poms.

    Giants 13 Packers 9

  12. Buddy Biancalana January 20th, 2008 at 6:36 pm

    Rebecca-

Would you get student housing at Fordham? You would be so close to Yankee stadium, you could get a job selling beer to make some extra cash.

  13. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Save the Three Musketeers! January 20th, 2008 at 6:38 pm

    Buddy–

    A) I’m not sure. Worst comes to worst, my parents have been, erm, very generous, so I’ll live somewhere in the City. I am weighing the idea of finding somewhere in Manhattan and commuting, but I’m not sure yet. The idea of being so close to Yankee Stadium…oh man…

    B) I went to the Jets-Bills game back on 9/30, with my friend, C, who is male and into men. We might have been the only two in the entire stadium NOT into the cheerleaders!

  14. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Save the Three Musketeers! January 20th, 2008 at 6:39 pm

(oh, I have to actually get in, too)

  15. Doreen January 20th, 2008 at 6:41 pm

    Fran,

In answer to your question, what is the difference between the Eagles fans and the Patriots fans, well, let’s just say the Pats fans were civilized.

  16. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Save the Three Musketeers! January 20th, 2008 at 6:44 pm

    Oh dear…

Guys. Come on. I hate killing threads.

  18. Buddy Biancalana January 20th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

Living in Manhattan would be sweet! I used to live in Brooklyn.

  19. cupaJOBA January 20th, 2008 at 6:56 pm

    GO PATS BABY!!!!!!

  20. Doreen January 20th, 2008 at 6:56 pm

Every Sunday I look at the floor plans for various luxury living spaces in Manhattan. It’s fun.

  21. Buddy Biancalana January 20th, 2008 at 7:00 pm

Ok, off to a Obama house party, maybe I’ll catch the 2nd half of the game.

  22. PAT M. January 20th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

Jr. Seau’s tackle on 3rd & 2 was the turning point in the game….The Bolts are forced to kick a FG…..Key play…..I have been taking the dog the past 2 weeks and filling my wallet with Benji’s……Giant just may win this game outright…..Nice piece by SJ44 yesterday……

  23. Rocco January 20th, 2008 at 7:13 pm

    GO JETS!!! oh wait… :(

  24. matthew frags January 20th, 2008 at 7:14 pm

Pats were fortunate LT, NEAL, GATES & RIVERS were all hurt… With a healthy LT… Chargers score TDs, not kick FGs… PATS would have been tested. BUT… such is life.
Still, Pats hardly played championship football today.

SD had a QB w/ a torn acl, a hobbled TE, a 2nd string RB… and they still racked up the yardage. PATS offense basically had two productive drives… They dodged one today!

Big Jamal on defense was hurt as well… Hence the success in the running game.

PATS are having the greatest season ever… for sure. BUT, today just shows that they are far from being the best team ever… 80s Niners, 90s Cowboys would have scored some points today… OF COURSE, Pats are on that list of all-time greats… BUT, I wouldn’t say they were the best team ever.

  25. Doreen January 20th, 2008 at 7:17 pm

    Buddy B -

    Seriously????

  26. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Save the Three Musketeers! January 20th, 2008 at 7:20 pm

Rocco: Oh man, I am so with you

  27. Norm Snead January 20th, 2008 at 7:29 pm

These receivers are dropping or missing way too many catchable passes. I understand it’s cold but this gut check time guys!

  28. PAT M. January 20th, 2008 at 7:43 pm

Steerlers of the 70′s ,,,,could be the best ever……Their Defense commonly shut teams out…..Pats win the Super Bowl, they’ll rightfully take their place as The Dynasty of the 00′s

  29. Joe Buck ruins my life with his bad MLB/NFL playoff announcing January 20th, 2008 at 8:23 pm

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  30. Mo January 20th, 2008 at 11:23 pm

I think that they are still cheaters and should forfeit first game.

  31. Matt January 21st, 2008 at 12:24 pm

I for one have no interest in visiting a Boston or New England site for reasons of trash talking and making an idiot of myself. It serves no purpose whatsoever,
I would hope that fans on those sites would do likewise. Bantering to use fact or slight disagreement is one thing – trash talking is another.
