If you had yesterday off and didn’t check the blog, make sure you read the guest post from Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus. He wrote on workload concerns for Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy,

Another guest poster, Todd Drew, wrote a terrific piece on the Bronx on MLK Jr. Day.

Good Morning to you too Pete. I guess there’s not much to write about today.

I hope Todd Drew’s guest post turned people on to his writing.

Todd’s snapshots are memorable, effortless reading about Runyonseque characters from a post-Giuliani, nearly post hip-hop Bronx. Unable to beat the system they somehow squeeze joy out of hard lives in the shadow of the elevated subway and the great stadium.

I don’t really agree that minor league innings don’t count. There’s a lot of guys that work real hard because they want to make it to the majors. I not saying that each inning in the minors is like an inning in the majors but to say its like third the amount or even half is way too low. Hope the Yankees figure it out. Spring training right after the Superbowl. I’ll be there.

Hello everyone, I’m heading to Cooperstown this weekend. I was there once before, about 7 years ago. Have any of you been there more recently? If so, can you suggest any exhibits I should be sure to check out, or any restaurants or shops outside of the Hall that are worth visiting?

    Pete,

Not sure if you caught this but Peter Gammons mentioned your blog in his yesterday.

Unfortunately, time keeps most of us from getting to those sites specific to teams. It’s amazing how many club officials read USS Mariner (Seattle), Fire Brand of the American League (Boston), Ducksnorts (San Diego), Athletics Nation (Oakland), Viva El Birdos (St. Louis), Lone Star Ball (Texas), River Ave. Blues (Yankees), MetsBlog.com, FishStripes (Florida), Dodger Thoughts, Bronx Banter (great writing), The LoHud Yankees Blog, Reds Reporter (Cincinnati), Bleed Cubbie Blue, Brew Crew Ball (Milwaukee) and more.

It looks like the offers for Santana are starting to drop. No Phil.

  16. Doesn't Matter January 22nd, 2008 at 12:19 pm

Its not that Phil is off the table (I wish it would be that way) it’s just that he’s not on it. Meaning if the Twins want to make a deal no more talk. You want Phil ask for Phil but that means you have to commit to the trade and that the Twins don’t want to do so Phil is off. Santana will be traded within the next two weeks Or not traded at all. Yankees will CONSIDER a Phil deal if the Twins say they want the deal.

EGADS! April cannot get here soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Travis January 22nd, 2008 at 6:26 pm

Hoffa, you are picking THE BEST time to go to Cooperstown, in my opinion. I have been there several times in mid-winter, and it almost felt like I had the place to myself! A far cry from the shoulder-to-shoulder traffic you’d find in the summer. If Sal’s Pizzeria is still there, have a slice for me!

  23. saucy January 23rd, 2008 at 10:34 am

i really need to get over to cooperstown too now that i’m living upstate. looks like i only need one road to get there as well. 28
