Torre played Bernie over Melky, when he had the opportunity, because Melky misplayed two routine fly balls in ’05 and to this day, still takes poor routes to the ball. And quite frankly, even after his skills declined, Bernie was still a better hitter than Melky is now.

If Cashman is so eager to assess blame for the Yankees failures the last few seasons he should look in the mirror.
