I realize people can be caught in unflattering poses in photos, but based on this one don't you think Roger could afford a suit that fits and he at least could have gotten the suit pressed before the congressional hearings? It's almost as if he thought he could intimidate the politicos like a rookie facing him for the first time with his aura and presence!

It was a huge upset. I figured Baltimore for a sweep. It seemed like a total mismatch.

"Why cant Joba be Ryan, Phil be Seaver and Ian be this Koosman guy?"

In 1968, Tom Seaver had a 2.20 ERA, 165 ERA+. Frankly, short of Clemens in his prime, a Gibson or a Koufax, there are very few guys who were better then 'Tom Terrific'. Koosman faded a bit after his first 4 years, but '69 was his career year with a 2.28 ERA, 160 ERA+. Nolan Ryan was a young firerballer who was hard to hit, but was walking 5 per 9 in those days. He was still slightly above league average, but wasn't yet 'Nolan Ryan'. The Mets traded him after '71. They also had a kid named Tug McGraw, who in a 100 IPs posted a 2.24 ERA. Their 'crappy' starter was Gary Gentry, who had a HUGE ERA of 3.43. They also had an old vet named Don Cardwell, who had a near career year on 1969 with a 3.01 ERA.

So nobody touches Seaver, but if Phil is 'SuperHughes' he could be Koosman (as could Joba) and both Phil and Joba SHOULD be better then Ryan was in '69.

The Mets had one of ther worst fielding OFers named Ron Swoboda (who was a Yankee briefly in 72-73) who made 2 GREAT catches, when he was normally tripping over his feet.

It truly was a magic year. Even with one the the best pitching staff in modern history, it's hard to believe they won.

Double shot grande in hand, Roger sports a new very VERY short haircut, and yes, he's wearing Andy Pettitte's suit in an attempt to look slim and svelte.

Actually, that haircut makes Roger's head look smaller, don't you think? Ha!

Could a signing of Mench mean that a trade might be coming where Melky or Damon will be traded? Maybe for bullpen help?

I sort of know what it feels to be a Sox fan. I almost enjoyed watching the Pats go down, more than my Colts winning it last year. Maybe it was because the Colts played in the rain(which sucked)and all the Pats talk of immortality was the main topic for months. Whatever the reason its time to move on and become Yankee minded again(worry about my own team).

"Bottom line is Andy wouldn’t have known to ask McNamee for HGH unless Clemens had discussed it with him prior to that."

Or, you know...McNamee could have offered it to Andy unsolicited, like Justice claims happened with him.
