". If he gave what he thought was a private deposition, it should remain private.

End of story."

I don't think anyone's depositions were private.

Derek Jeter knows how to handle the media better than anyone. Only a fool would give a reporter/distorter any fuel to feed the controversey machine.

They shouldn't reveal Andy's testimony. If he gave what he thought was a private deposition, it should remain private.

Pete,

Are the guys in the media as much charmed by Jeter's "aw shucks" routine as the female reporters are?

pat,

You mentioned Andy's conflicting testimony? I've heard he contradicted himself, he sided with McNamee, etc. Rep. Davis has come out refuting all the rumors. And while he didn't want to reveal the content, he did say that Andy had nothing new to add and that no "baseball player in their right mind wants to go in front of a congressional committee". So he gets a get out of jail free card.

As Marchand said, they're trying to put the clowns and elephants back under the tent.

Pete -

Thanks for the audio. You guys really got a lot out of Jeter, for Jeter, anyway. It's a bit sad, isn't it, that "nothing surprises" him at this point.

It's also very interesting because I've always believed that people who are not interested in doing the wrong thing will be able to avoid it, and won't even necessarily know anything about it. And related to that, if you carry yourself in a way that lets others know you're not interested in taking shortcuts, you will not be approached. (Of course, not a hard-and-fast rule, but by and large, I've found it to be true - if you want trouble, it will find you).

Jeter cracks me up how he tries to play dumb. He makes it funny and always manages to wiggle out of there without actually answering a tough question.

"is there a question in there?"

Gotta love Jeter for knowing how to play dumb about the Rocker stuff but being prepared enough to have a quick comebac about there not being testing in 2000. The boy knows how to work the media.
