Pettitte admits to other HGH use

Andy Pettitte’s reputation took another shot earlier today when, via deposition, he revealed that he used human growth hormone in 2004.
Pettitte said in 2006 he never used human growth hormone or any other PEDs. Then in December is claimed only to have used it for two days in 2002.
Now he admits to also using it for one day in 2004, shortly before having elbow surgery. Pettitte’s father, Tom, supplied the drug in 2004.
“Andy had not previously mentioned this usage because he acquired the substance from his father, who had obtained it without Andy’s knowledge in an effort to overcome his very serious health problems, which have included serious cardiac conditions,” lawyer Jay Reisinger, said in a statement. “Andy did not want his father, whom he deeply respects and loves, to be brought into this matter and sought to shield him from publicity. In both cases, Andy used HGH in a misguided effort to recover from injury.”
Pettitte is expected to address reporters when he arrives at spring training. That will likely be Thursday or Friday.

I’m not sure which side it’s going to help if any that Andy took HGH at least three times
This is all just nonsense! Really sad day for both baseball and congress. If anyone is watching the hearings you would agree. Pettite states Roger told him he used HGH and now Clemens is testifying that Andy “misremembers”. Misremembers? What is that? Is that a word. And the congressmen are totally grandstanding. Aren’t there more important things in the world? Now I know why people from other countries call us stupid americans.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=misremember
Sara it is a word.
Sara, misremember is a word but we already talked about that … Comments on Today in the Journal news.
Seems to me that Andy’s faith in his religion is taking over in his admission.
thanks for the clarification. still a sad day all around.
It’s a sad tale to be sure, but I really wouldn’t be too surprised if stories like this in League are common.
Want to brighten your day. Go to yahoo and pictures. After you get thru the crap pictures of Roger and the soxs, there are a few Legends field pictures in there.
Looks to me like a misguided son who was trying to cover for his father. Andy certainly should have worded his original statement better, but Andy will have his say when he’s at spring training and hopefully he can finally move on from all of this.
This is hard to listen to..
Both of them have big inconsistencies in their stories.
I’m half expecting Roger to break down and cry and admit he lied.
What the hell is this guy talking about? Why bring some family that was killed into his?
This guy is running for office
What a shame this whole thing is.
I understand this must be hard for him and his family, but maybe next time he won’t let a rapist stay in his home with his wife and 4 young sons again.
What uniform will you wear to the hall of fame. hahaha. WHAT?
When this started, a few of the congressmen were pushing Clemens and he was struggling..He seemed rattled.
But after a few went after McNamee, Clemens seems to have gotten some kind of comproser back..
i’m recording this via tivo at home, but not sure i really need to watch it after reading the last 3 threads worth of comments. (thank you)
LOL, now Clemens’ nannie said that Clemens was at the Conseco party. Uh oh…
uh oh Roger is dead. WHy call a nanny that you hadn’t spoken to in 7 years.
Roger just cry and admit it. He looks like such a rat. does he think he is coming off looking good? And Rogers lawyer is a bumkin (sp).
I actually am a little disappointed. I came into this believing Roger. But this has been tough. I don’t believe McNamee, but there are so many details and it is very difficult to believe Roger. Why say something to Wallace on 60 minutes (I didn’t talk to Mktchell because my lawyers told me not to) and then say something else to Congress. Why change the reason? One version is not true—and this is on a relatively minor point.
Could Rusty Hardin look anymore guilty? Swaying and blowing out breaths and yelling and defending himself.
back to a little baseball talk. I found this on another message board. SOmeone emailed Nancy Newman about the Yankees st schedule
These are the March Spring Training Yankees game dates that YES will televise (not yet sure of game time for each).March;2, 5, 7, 8, 11,13,15,16,17,18,20,22,23,25,27.Enjoy!Best,NN
This is getting out of hand. Those lawyers are fired up.
Where did Roger find these two clowns.
The Clemens side of the table is quickly falling apart.
Clemens using “y’all” also reeks of intelligence. It’s Congress Roger, clean it up.
jennifer-
McNamee isn’t looking great either I don’t think..
Ha, he’s done. The Nanny did him in.lol
Big deal. I wouldn’t want to drag my father into this nonsense either. I know it’s the media job to report all this garbage but stop making it bigger then it is.
Nanny Gate!!
The Nanny did it.
looks like I had to leave just as it was getting good! What happened?
Did Congress have ask Selig why he appointed a former board member of the Red Sox to conduct the investigation? It’s easy to go after Clemens and Pettitte when you’re associated with the Red Sox. Personally I think Selig should have to go through the same crap that Clemens is.
NYPD
Hardin and his lawyers are falling apart as fast as Matt Light, Logan Mankins and Nick Kaczur.
I bet Roger paid off the nanny with HGH shots
you beat me to it!!
Steve…..dead right.
Now I must act as a Yankee fan and bask in past glory & wax poetic about how great thing will be next year.
Oh well.
Nanny is the key.Mcnamee should stop talking Roger is falling apart by himself. And it’s sad that HGH Pettitte again took HGH.He is slowly looking like a big fat liar too.Even though I believe what he said against Clenens.
Roger: “I’ve tried to retire 3 times and it’s not working”
His performance last year should make it a whole lot easier.
Pete, they had no evidence of this other than Pettitte’s admission. If he said nothing, nobody would ever know. I don’t think his reputation took a hit.. I think quite the opposite.
NYPD
You can bask in the glory of that Super Bowl against the Rams….until Congress gets involved and that glory gets taken away too.
“I’m a forgiving person” says Roger…
That didn’t sind genuine..
I’ll believe that though if he actually ever speaks to Andy again heh.
Roger, just say “I kept McNamee around because I needed him to inject me.”
Why are all these congresspeople kissing butt?
Yes, Roger calling the nanny to talk to her before turning her number over is pretty incriminating. I think that both Clemens and McNamee have told lies during the hearing and could probably both be brought up on perjury charges.
I’ll be surpised if Andy actually speaks to Roger again. Andy’s father is brought into this as well as his wife.
.....and the Eagles and the Panthers…LOL.
Man, before today I didn’t think Roger could look worse, man was I wrong.
OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isn’t it funny that one can go to jail for lying to Congress, but Congress lying to us gets themselves relected with pay, pension & perks!
I wish we held a public meeting to discuss the peoples issues with Congress & then held them accountable.
We have a judicial system for laws & lawbreakers.
Congress has a job as well.
“I’m sure you’re going to heaven Mr. Clemens.”
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The nanny, in the cabana, with the syringe.
What a circus
NYPD
Can you bask in the glory of SB XX and SB XXXI too? 2nd place is ALMOST perfect, right?
What’s struck me thus far is that while the representative questions betray clear biases in whom they believe, they don’t correspond to their partisan allegiances.
Did I miss it? But I still can’t understand why no one has asked McNamee to corroborate the veracity of Roger’s allegation in Paragraph 27 of his defamation complaint.
In it, Roger’s investigative team, following their interview with McNamee, reveal that McNamee implicated Roger under duress after Novitzsky and Parella threatened him with prison and further criminal sanction.
“Isn’t it funny that one can go to jail for lying to Congress, but Congress lying to us gets themselves relected with pay, pension & perks!”
Isn’t being a politician also the profession where getting bribed by big business is a must?
And the profession where they make up laws (and comment) on subjects they know nothing about…
Can someone tell me what an IRS investigator has to do with this case?
Steve, no I cannot.
My teams have won so many championships THIS century, I cannot accept 2nd place.
You? (Remember, I asked about THIS century)
“Can someone tell me what an IRS investigator has to do with this case”
—- He must’ve thought Jeter was involved.
official break in the action:
my observations:
clemens wins today
mcnamee loses
clemens knows how to compete.
he can hang in there with senators in their room while they couldn’t do it in his.
alpha dog congressmen and women can tell when one of their own is in their presence . they don’t play golf with the mcnamee’s of the world.
they play with people like clemens.
the first indiana congressman made it clear that mcnamee he believes mcnmee is a liar. he read everything that was taken in depositions so that told me right there that there was no “gotcha” anywhere in the testimony.
the republican co head of the committee saying clemens just got “lynched” told us what he thinks of congressmen lynch of massachusetts.
it’s over folks.
it’s already been decided there’s not enough to say clemens did it by the committee.
the congresswoman from d.c. made that clear when she said he was definitely going to heaven.
all clemens has to do from this point on is keep his cool and he’s in good shape.
that said i have no idea if he’s done steroids or not. if you notice pettitte only references hgh in his vague recollections.
clemens alleged use of steroids is only stated by mcnamee.
without saying anything about his guilt or innocence,i’d say good job roger on handling himself in court.
there’s a reason why he’s a hall of fame pitcher and that is largely because of strong will inside him and his ability to get it out when it counts.
it came through for him today. so far.
Well since you said this century, you mean the last 100 years, which would encompass every year since 1909.
Andy looks like a choir boy compared to Roger at this moment.
Andy was wrong. He’s admitted to the public and in sworn testimony what he’s done.
Roger sucks because he allowed all of this to come to a head. He put Andy on the spot. If Roger ‘fessed up right after the report Andy wouldn’t be involved in Roger’s business.
MLB sucks for letting their players hang out to dry while they slink back into the mahogany walls of their cushy offices.
Steve…......I said this century(we are currently in the 21st). I didn’t say the past 100 years ;), funny how you didn’t answer my question.
Once again ladies, thank you, off to work.
As has become a trend of late, a NY Yankee provided me much humor and looked pathetic on TV.
Mac and Clemens are both scumbags and deserve each other. Look forward to more PEDitte admissions to.
Enjoy the rest of your day “Y’ALL”!
“Pete, they had no evidence of this other than Pettitte’s admission. If he said nothing, nobody would ever know. I don’t think his reputation took a hit.. I think quite the opposite.”
Totally agree but then again calling it like it is doesn’t sell papers & make headlines.
randy l,
I think that even the most ardent supporters of Clemens would have to acknowledge that Clemens did something.
Clemens said he did neither HGH nor steroids. He painted himself into a corner by doing that.
If Roger had only shut up and let things take their course. Or admitted what he did up front. But now everyone gets dragged into it. Even his wife and ex-nanny.
Roger’s team is a little overzealous in their attempts to seek justice. More like ex-operatives than ex-cops.
Andy blew the whole thing out of the water. Roger can’t even say he did only HGH now. Because of his blanket statements and lawsuits.
Dodge and alter the question Steve-O, you sound like Roger! LMAO
OK folks, I’m off.
As has become commonplace recently, a Yankee looked silly and pathetic on TV. Tsk, tsk. Not your fathers’ Yankees, huh?
Have a great day everyone!
There are too many inconsistencies in both their testimonies, but I realize that I’m rooting for Roger. I can find human reasons for Roger to have been inconsistent, but I find that my contempt for McNamee grows with every word out of his mouth. He actually has changed his testimony to say that he injected Knoblach over 50 times from an initial allegation of 7 to 9 times. He says he just keeps remembering. Whatever. I also find it hard to believe he remember exactly what the nanny was wearing so many years ago.
I wasn’t going to watch, and now I can’t not watch. I keep waiting for Roger to blow, but he’s been comporting himself well.
It’s all sad.
I might have “mis-remembered” But didn’t Roger Clemens play for the Red Sox?
Ok, if Andy lied about it because he didn’t want to bring his father publicity, why is he VOLUNTEERING it now? And why even mention his father’s involvement? I guess we’ll have to read the full deposition to find out if he was questioned DIRECTLY on whether he ever used it any other time, or if he just threw it out there voluntarily as they said in the hearing earlier.
I’m not sure I buy that Andy is as innocent as his reputation (used to) indicate.
“It’s easy to go after Clemens and Pettitte when you’re associated with the Red Sox. Personally I think Selig should have to go through the same crap that Clemens is.”
Amazing, isn’t it. Maybe when Roger Goodell & Arlen Specter start their committee to look into the Patriots Spygate episode they nominate Woody Johnson & Eric Mangini to head it up. Seems fair to me.
Wow did they just give the nannys name?
“As has become commonplace recently, a Yankee looked silly and pathetic on TV”
There Roger speaks the more his Red Sox roots are showing.
mel-
i respectively have no idea what you are talking about. i don’t see that pettitte’s testimony is any kind of smoking gun.
hearing back on .
look forward to hearing your gut feeling about things afterward
Given Andy’s admitted 04 use, what are the odds that Bud suspends him? How long if he does?
randy l,
Maybe I’m mistaken. I thought Andy said Roger did it. Did Andy only say that they talked about the stuff?
republican congressman says to mcnamee” well, shame on you”.
it’s over.
it’s apparent no one on this committee wants to identify with mcnamee.
mel,
andy said he remembers talking about hgh a long time ago. he wasn’t clear. he never said he knew clemens used hgh.
waxman the democrat is clearly out of sync with his republican counterparts.
that waxman has no problem with mcnamee who admits lying about a rape where he was caught naked in a hot tub having sex with a woman with a near fatal dose of the date rape drug in her makes me think waxman is a jackass for that cheap shot when he had the last word.
good for roger that he spoke up to waxman.
waxman also shouted down a female congressperson who was sympathetic to clemens and basically told her to shut up.
waxman comes off as a congressional thug.
gee , what a surprise it got down to partisan politics.
but you know what, clemens is better off now then he was before despite waxman’s cheap shot.
if pettitte is so honest according to waxman why does his admitted use the number of hgh keep changing?
waxman is acting like a one man jury ,but his view is one man’s view. the overwhelming majority of the committee clearly thought mcnamee was a despicable character.
waxman likes an admitted rapist. good for him.
Just like Mike and the Maddogg what a Republician execution on Mcnamee even though Clemens (A Republician) was the loser and never answered anything.
Like Mcnamee or not he was telling the truth and Clemens put his wife out to dry saying he never knew his wife took steoids…c’mon.
Mr. Faded Glory, thank-you for pointing out Andy’s reputation most certainly did not take another hit. If the point of all this is to teach our “youth,” then they’ve learned never to volunteer the truth especially when you can easily get away with not doing so.
