Apparently GHWB felt Mitchell was responsible for misleading him back in 1990 on details of the tax negotiations which led to GHWB breaking the "no new taxes" pledge in order to get support for other pressing issues. Normally, I think Burton and Issa are corrupt fools but they made valid points today and the Democrats looked like jerks. As someone who has followed and cheered on Waxman's probes into Halliburton etc. it was very disaappointing to see that he is completely unobjective, petty, power hungry, and plain dishonest.
