Wait, did someone just say that Burnett's going to get a 5 year 100 million dollar deal? Uhh..no. Not in this free agent market. With CC being a FA, Sheets, Lackey, Penny, Lowe, Perez and several others(some have different options), Burnett may end up with 15 million a year over 4, but I really doubt he gets a 5th year. So MAYBE 5/75. Nowhere near 5/100.

AJ Burnett has actually pitched a fair bit of the last two years--and has pitched quite well (ERA under 4.00). He finished strong last year and can opt out after 2008. I think you'll see a strong year from him, followed by free agency and a contract in the neighbourhood of 5 years/$100 million.

I remember how excited Yankee fans were at the Pavano signing especially at how they had prevented the Red Sox from obtaining him. That seems like ages ago.

Yeah Pavano's a douche bag. he kicks puppies (but only after peeing on them). I mean sure he doesnt make anymore than more than average pitchers these days, I mean A.J. Burnett makes more and plays equally as little, but who cares, Pavano shouldnt even be classified as human. Oh yeah, and who cares that when a player is on the 60 day disabled list, he can be replaced on the 40 man without penalty, I think I saw Pavano at a White Supremacist rally. He wouldnt even restructure his contract, which never happens in baseball. God I hate that guy.

Jeff Karstens: any word on how he's doing? i read a few weeks ago that he pitched well for Team USA over the winter. Think he has a shot at 5th starter? if not, can we get someone for him in a trade?

Why blame Pavano. The Yankees were the one's who were stupid enough to give $40 Mil to a pitcher who had one good season and had never been healthy. Don't blame him for a poor investment.
