Tough times for Krazy Kyle

Peter Abraham
February

Kyle Farnsworth told a harrowing story of having to check into the hospital on Jan. 8 when a small cut on his left leg became infected. It proved to be a MRSA infection, the dreaded “superbug.”

Had he not been treated in time, Farnsworth could have lost his leg. He spent two days in the hospital and is fine now but he missed several weeks of working out. He is a little behind the other pitchers as a result. I’ve known a few players who had staph infections and it’s serious stuff.

Farnsworth is entering the final year of his contract and is playing for a manager he was once teammates with in Joe Girardi. Maybe those two factors will lead to a big season for him.

Wow. What a story. Best of luck to Krazy Kyle. Pete, does he know that people actually call him that? It’s a term of endearment. No, really. haha.

Heard about that. Glad to know he’s okay…as Krazy as he might be, at least Farnsworth shows up when asked and doesn’t wallow on the DL.

Fixed the link, sorry about that

I’m hoping for a big season for Farnsworth, as well. I’m going to like a reliever who throws a billion-miles-an-hour provided he’s stable, and I think given the proper environment, he can handle that.

Infected with the Superbug? Wow. For some reason, I thought that was going to happen first to Pavano. Seriously.

is there still an issue with Posada and Farnsworth? I seem to remember last year Posada getting mad at him because he wassnt throwing the pitches that Posada was calling for. I think it almost led to Posada getting injured because he was expecting a slider and got hit on the wrist with a fastball…

  6. Joe from Long Island

I think this was the same infection that afflicted Alex Rios of Toronto and had him out for half a season. It can definitely be a very bad bug (I know, I actually am an MD, this can kill).

While Kyle has not been a trusted player for us, that’s no reason not to wish him the best, regardless, and to hope that he can contribute for us this year.

  7. Joe from Long Island

Rocco, I remember the same episode, and you’re right. I hope that they can put the past aside, and start off on the right foot this spring. That’s what spring training is all about, isn’t it, starting with a clean slate?

  8. Bob

Geez, and I thought Pavano was the team “staff” infection.

  9. McLovin

Maybe these injuires guys Pavano and Fransworth can use what Pettitte uses when he has an injury. It works whats it call….HGH.

A post from McLovin discussing Pettitte and HGH.

Something we haven’t seen on this blog.

    Rocco,

Posada’s a funny cat. If you want a colorful Yankee quote, he’s the guy to see. He said we need an ace, but now he says that Wang’s the ace. “Wang is a No. 1 anywhere,” Jorge Posada said. “I have no doubt about that.” (Feinsand of Daily News)

I thought I read yesterday that Posada said that Joba should be a starter. Must’ve had tired eyes, because now he’s saying that he’s definitely a reliever. Read the last line. Classic Posada. http://www.nydailynews.com/spo.....joba_.html

It’ll be interesting to see who Jorge thinks has the best “stuff” at the end of the season. He said Hughes after his first ST. Then he got to catch Joba in the bigs. Then you have the prospects. And Krazy Kyle.

  12. bubba

Recent events have sort of vindicated Kyle’s Clemens attitude.

  13. Ricky Rios

Farnsworth to have a great year…Joe G. will kick him in the butt when he needs it

  14. TGFizeek

How good is this team with a dominant Kyle Farnsworth?

    That said, 100mph-movement=lotsa HRs

CAN this guy get it done? Here’s hoping!

  15. anti-pettitte

krazy kyle has back problems right? like pettitte? so maybe they should share that stuff.
