Yaz – And there in lies the rub. If you do something that at that time you found to be cheating but after the fact it was determined that it was in fact not cheating, is it still cheating??? I’d say no. Not everyone feels this way though.
Pettitte said he took it to get off the DL quicker. You wrote “Getting back in two weeks is getting an edge as opposed to three weeks.” If a player goes on the DL, he has to stay on it for at least 15 days, which would make it 3 weeks. So, how could he have gotten back in 2 weeks like you said??
guys. I love andy pettitte as much as the next guy. But we need to get out of the mindset that taking HGH in 02 and 04 isn’t cheating. The whole “it wasn’t banned by baseball” defense is simply moot – taking a drug that requires a prescription was banned in the 70s. As fans of the game we need to make sure we remain objective – even if our heroes are under fire.

Quick thought: how does our view of all this change three years down the road if HGH is medically approved for the treatment of injuries?
is there a video stream of this anywhere on the web yet? mlb.com, etc? I can’t seem to find one.

Pete, congrats on being liked enough to get the chance to ask two questions, haha.
Dewey, there’s a video of Andy’s opening statement (but not the Q&A) on nytimes.com
