Glad to see Andy's teammates support him. Hope they continue to do so on the field. No more blown games and lack of run support please!

how many times have we heard "past a diving jeter." I am a huge fan of the captain but he should be headed to the outfield or 1b within the next 3 seasons.

Guess who rode shotgun today and "apologized"? Roger Clemens? No. Miguel Tejada? No. Eric Gagne.

Don't let anyone tell you that no Red Sox were named. lol.

Y's, you talk to anybody in the drug prevention field and they will tell you embarrassment is the least likely way to solve the problem.

Yes, Andy said that. But, he also had no intentions of EVER talking about his father and their usage of HGH until he was under oath.

So, did it discourage his usage of HGH after 2002? No.

He got desperate again, because his elbow was killing him, and took another round of HGH.

So, how exactly did embarrassing him discourage usage?

It may make for a great topic on talk radio or ESPN. However, if you want to discourage PED usage, its not going to come from embarrassing people.

Its as useless a strategy as, "Just Say No" was to recreational drug usage.

You know how you combat it besides more testing? Education programs.

Andy said time and time again he wasn't sure of what HGH could or could not do. He was told by his trainer it can heal tissue damage. That was the extent of his knowledge of HGH.

Do you think if the Union and MLB had a joint education program to educate its players and trainers on HGH, that wouldn't be more helpful.

Or, how about working with Glaxo Smith Kline, as the ATP has done in the tennis industry, to produce a line of supplements, totally free of the crap most of the over the counter supplements contain, for its membership?

Those are just two examples of how better to handle the PED issue instead of outing and embarrassing players.

While nice theatre, its simply not a long term solution for this problem.

Y's Guy - Come on now. Not everyone cares as much about people think of him as Pettitte does. You could also argue that outing the players has the reverse effect. Wow, look Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte were on the stuff, man they were dang good. I think I should get on it too!

Just remember this: In 2004, the leading reason for those voting for the winner in the US presidential election cited "moral issues" as their cause.
