Pete, you are TOO funny:

“I’m going to be doing underwear ads,” Giambi said.

(Hope you weren’t eating)

While I wouldn't exactly line up to see it, I could take it. After watching one of the characters on Prison Break wear his tightie whities for 2 episodes (Bellick), I could stomach it.

i dont know if that 6/100 is true but if it is, then tex's 16.5M AAV + $5M buyout of Giambi is probably less than thier option on Giambi alone.
i really like giabmi but i dont see him back at all. i think its kind of symbolic, like passing on Santana was. Hope he gets a ring this year.

OldYanksFan - seeing how the emergence of Johnny Damon as our left fielder has effectively pushed Matsui into a DH role, I think the Yankees would be more apt to buy out Giambi’s option and let him walk. They’d probably also want somebody younger or more athletic to take over at first base, like Mark Teixeira or (depending on their 2008 production) a Shelley Duncan/Wilson Betemit or Duncan/Juan Miranda platoon.
------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, however....
I need to see Matsui come back from his injuries.
Giambi may be 75-100 pts better in OPS, so a upgrade as DH
Mastsui will have excellent trade value. 1/$13.

I may be wrong, but Shelley Duncan is NOT a MLB starter
Wilson Betemit is our BUIF. He is only being considered at 1st because he bought a 1st basemans mitt.
Miranda might be a hitting stud, but he is very one-dimensional. He is probably Giabi light. He is trade bait.
Tex would be great. He will probable get AT LEAST 6/$100.
I'd rather have Nick the Stick if we can get him.

I would get Nick, consider dumping Shelley for Gardner, who has tremendous speed and good defense, consider Giambi as DH and trade Matsui to the Dodgers (Torre would take him in a heartbeat).

Raymagnetic,

I don't think you understand Lebron and Jay-Z have been boys since back in the day, he is family to him, every event he is there, Fat Joe offered Lebron more money to play for his Rucker team and Lebron turned it down, Def Jam offered him they too were turned down. The Knicks is no different from this.

He can be the Knicks savior but most likely will choose to start a new franchise in BK a bring a bigger fan base to it. Jay-Z is going to be there opening night 2010 you don't think he's already planning for Lebron to be there. And why do you think Lebron is already letting it out he's upset w/ the Cavs management team a few yrs. prior to his FA even Stephen A. Smith said he wants to be in Brooklyn opening night that's from Lebron's mouth.

sos, not a 1 room, but a 1 bedroom apartment. i've been here a year now and still can't get over how big this place is. especially compared to the 3 apartments i had in manhattan, prior to this one.

ray,
I guess we will all be seeing naked picture of the owner is at the end of the year(if Thomas is fired).

raymagnetic,
You are correct. They did offer the Yanks a discount but that was in the final minutes(at least thats what they said). But who really knows if he would have actually left money on the table in the end.

"As far as I understand it the Yankees turned down Beltran didn’t they? Wasn’t he willing to play for the Yankees for less money?"
--------------------------------------------------------
Correct. After the Mets offer, Carlos offered himself to the Yankees for something like $10m less.

OldYanksFan - seeing how the emergence of Johnny Damon as our left fielder has effectively pushed Matsui into a DH role, I think the Yankees would be more apt to buy out Giambi's option and let him walk. They'd probably also want somebody younger or more athletic to take over at first base, like Mark Teixeira or (depending on their 2008 production) a Shelley Duncan/Wilson Betemit or Duncan/Juan Miranda platoon.

For what it's worth, if he has a good 2008 season, Giambi would net the Yankees a Type B draft pick, possibly a Type A. But I'm getting very, very ahead of myself by even mentioning such things!
