could it be alex was thinking 9 or 10 since coming to ny and simply didn't convey what he was thinking? kinda like writing a pagagraph then after you read it, a whole sentence you thought was there uh, wasn't

To be honest, when I heard him say that I was thinking the same thing. I couldn't figure out why he would be tested nine times in one season. If he tested postive for stimulants it wouldnt be released but he would be subjected to more testing.

When he said 9 or 10 times, did anyone think he was exagerrating? He said it in a pretty serious tone to me. Why would he make up something like that anyhow? This is definitly a case where its Arods fault and not the media for once overblowing something.

i was quoting someone else who referred to the people who did the study as A-Holes.

I find myself in a position to want to defend Pete a little.
Pete is a beat writer for a newspaper. What he puts out in print for the Journal News and what he shares on this blog are 2 different things. People who read this blog are geting much more info than what Pete gets in the paper everyday.
Take the time to read his stories (that's what the paper actually pays him to do) and you will see that his article on this subject and many others is much more fair and balanced than what you are reading on this blog.

This is not the first time a statistical analysis has shown Jeter to be a terrible defensive SS. The Hardball Times has an article last year that showed the same thing. Actually, iut showed he was the worst fielder in MLB at his position And most other defensive stats also show that he is far below average.

Jetes IS terrible on defense. It's mitigated some by being far above average on pop-ups and his excellence as a cutoff man. Nonetheless, the runs he gives away is beginning to encroach on the runs he creates.

He is hurting the team to some degree, but a bigger problem is it will probably get worse, especially as his offensive numbers drop due to aging.

There is no way he can play SS after his contract expires after 2011. If he wants to play after 2011, he better learn to play 1B, as his offense in 2012 won't be enough to use his as a DH.

If the Yankees want to keep him until he retires, they better move him to 1B pretty soon (like next year).

"The Post reported this morning that some assinine statistical study over at UPenn calls Derek the worst shortstop in the majors. Where do these a–holes get their stats?"

from tracking every single batted ball over several seasons.
