Scranton/WB Yankees outing anyone?

Ron, a long-time loyal reader from Pennsylvania asked me if I would post this for him. It sounds like a great idea:

If enough people would be interested, I’m willing to organize a LoHud Yankees Blog group outing for a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees game this season at PNC Field, located just off I-81 in Moosic, Penn. The stadium is about 70 miles from Binghamton, 120 miles from Newark, 120 miles from Philadelphia and 145 miles from State College.
There are several group outing venues available, but the Coors Light Pavilion would be best for a group of about 20 – 30 people. It’s a multi-level area located down the left field line, and near the Yankees bullpen, offering the opportunity to sit or mingle during the game. A basic package costs about $25 providing each person a game ticket, all the food you can eat (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken), soda, water and an SWB Yankees cap or program. Adult beverages are available at extra cost from a private bar area within the pavilion. Additional food options such as sausage and peppers, pasta, etc. are available if interested, but would increase the cost.
I assume a Friday, Saturday or Sunday would be best for everyone. At this point the games below are available. Anyone interested e-mail me at yankslifer@yahoo.com as soon as possible at with the date(s) best for you and thoughts/suggestions regarding the various food options. Once I seem to have a consensus I’ll e-mail those interested before I reserve a date and direct everyone how payment can be made. Please include your LoHud blog posting name in the e-mail so once organized I can let everyone know who’s coming.
Here are the dates:
Friday, June 6, 7:00, Norfolk Tides (Orioles) *
Saturday, June 7, 7:00, Syracuse Chiefs (Blue Jays)
Sunday, June 8, 5:00, Syracuse Chiefs (Blue Jays)
Saturday, June 21, 7:00, Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers)
Sunday, June 22, 5:00, Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers)
Saturday, Aug. 9, 7:00, Syracuse Chiefs (Blue Jays)
Friday, Aug. 22, 7:00, Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) *
Sunday, Aug. 24, 5:00, Buffalo Bisons (Indians)

Cool idea!
pete count me in, id be driving up from philly. id prefer a sunday afternoon game but anything is good by me
You can sign me up too. I’m only 45 minutes away….
Well, it would be a 10-hr drive for me, but I may have to consider making a full weekend trip out of this at some point. I’ll have to look at the possibility of having the time available.
Sounds good. It is about time I get up to a Scranton game.
further than i thought it would have been for me. 135 miles. but everywhere is driving distance if you have the time.
count me in.
can we bring a keg? i got $5 on it!
count me in – just across the border for me.
me and the wifey, that is. i don’t think my grandma could make the trip, tho.
Hi Ron,
Thanks for organizing this. We’re likely candidates for four tickets no matter which of the games is chosen. We would not be inclined to want to pay for the food upgrade.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

I’m in, I live about 45 mins away, btw, I am 7 mins from Pocono Raceway.
I would defintly be interested in that i live about 2 hours away but i want to go to a few minor league games this year. But i think the question is would peter be there? how could it be a lohud blog party without him
That does sound like a great idea! Unfortunately I live in Philly and don’t drive so I doubt I could go. But if anyone ever wants to do this with AA Trenton, count me in. I went there a lot last year and it is a beautiful park and always a good time.
I’m in – sounds great.
I’m a SWB season ticket holder, but I would love to meet Pete and other readers of the blog. Let me know the dates. BTW, on April 2 there is a “Meet the SWB Yankees” dinner. Should be fun!
Wow. I really misread the title of this entry.
Great idea but how would I update my blog on and hourly basis? lol.
Yea I am in. i live in allentown
Seeing as I’m down there for half the games regardless, keep me in the loop on this one. Anything I can do to help, let me know, as I talk to the staff at the stadium during the season on a daily basis(comes with being in the press box.
Definately a great idea and if you need the assistance, like I said, let me know. I’ll drop you an email tomorrow just in case you don’t read this.
