The Yankees will most likely face Toronto ace Roy Halladay on 3/31, 5 years to the date when Jeter got hurt and was out for the first 6 weeks or so of the season in Toronto.

Whatever happened to Erick Almonte?

Don't count out the Jays just yet. They won't roll over for us, heck even Baltimore doesn't just roll over for us. Vernon Wells is back and ready to mash. They also picked up Scott Rolen & David Ecktein in the offseason.

"The guy has back to back 19 win seasons, but still no respect from some."

To say that Wang is not a number 1 pitcher doesn't mean that he's getting "no respect." Wang deserves a lot of respect. Still, he's not a number 1 pitcher. Everybody knows that.

Does anyone know who would be scheduled to pitch March 4th? I'll be attending that game and am curious.

Thanks.

Sadly, Wang is not a number 1 starter. Yanks' rotation just isn't very good.

You know, some times these college teams beat the pros but it is going to be their first start so I doubt any one will expect perfection.

South Florida has no chance against Joba. Joba might as well pitch a bullpen session instead because its a waste of his time.

I think using the adjective "surreal" to describe the pitching situation on opening day last year is not an abuse. I tried to convince myself that this was a sign that Pavano would have the big season for which he's been paid, but I couldn't.

This is a different team than opened the season last year. If -- God forbid -- something were to happen to CMW, Joe could always throw Joba at the unsuspecting and hapless Jays.

I've always liked Karstens and hope he can put something together. He'll be needed with the various innings limits on the "kids."

Funny, I just thought to myself that the symbol/honor of the Opening Day start doesn't mean a lot.

Then I remembered what last year's Opening Day starter symbolized to the Yanks' first half ;)
