    great new thread!!!!!!!!

  2. mel February 27th, 2008 at 5:56 pm

    Pete,

This is not what I had in mind!

I took the poll anyway because I’m such a good girl.

  3. Anthony February 27th, 2008 at 5:59 pm

I am so sick of hearing: “Congres” or “Clemens” or “McNamee” or “HGH/Steroids”

    ENOUGH OF THIS!

  4. Todd February 27th, 2008 at 6:00 pm

    I voted … but I lied

  5. MikeEff - Shelley at First February 27th, 2008 at 6:01 pm

could we have a poll on whether this topic interests the readers any more?

  6. MikeEff - Shelley at First February 27th, 2008 at 6:02 pm

    todd: you’re good.

  7. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:02 pm

    Todd,

By that admission, you’ve perjured yourself and violated the Terms of Service.

  8. MikeEff - Shelley at First February 27th, 2008 at 6:03 pm

    and touché mel !

  9. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:04 pm

    Mel: LMAO

  10. JimL February 27th, 2008 at 6:06 pm

Is this the new 7th inning stretch, didn’t we have baseball today, why are we talking about this again.

  11. Karma February 27th, 2008 at 6:06 pm

I voted, but the Diebold machine misrecorded my vote.

  12. whoa February 27th, 2008 at 6:07 pm

    yes.

  13. Whatevered February 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

Is there a way to vote on this poll on a cellphone?

  14. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

It must be noted, though, that Roger brought this upon himself. He wanted to take the offensive to save his HOF chances, despite his denials of caring about such. Best course of action would have done what Andy did. Absent of that, he should’ve lay low. There are very few people who are sympathetic to his cause. People are beginning to hate Roger for his sheer arrogance.

  15. Sean Serritella Yankees Daily February 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

I voted that he did commit perjury and he lied. The first reason I believe this is because he pitched so well at a late age. The other reason is because Andy Pettitte said he talked to him about it and Andy was his good friend and all the evidence points to Clemens taking steroids.

  16. Karma February 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

    JimL-

it’s the lead story on ESPN, devoting 8 minutes.

The funny part was an analysis saying Bush will never pardon Roger cuz Bush won’t stand for perjury. ahhahhahahha. ask scooter libby.

  17. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:10 pm

Why is there no “Do you believe that Clemens misremembered the last 10 years of his life?” choice?

  18. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:11 pm

    Whatevered,

Whisper your answer to me and I’ll vote for you.

  19. Jeff NJ February 27th, 2008 at 6:14 pm

New poll question: Where do bears sh*t? What religion is the Pope?

  20. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:15 pm

    Jeff NJ,

I dunno, but I saw a Charmin commercial with a bear rubbing its behind on a tree.

  21. Jeff NJ February 27th, 2008 at 6:16 pm

That sounds cute Mel. Love your diner by the way.

  22. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:16 pm

The only thing I want to see from ESPN right now is updated NHL power rankings and I’m not getting them, so I’m kind of upset.

  23. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 6:17 pm

Jeff NJ: Wherever they want. They’re bears. If you try to stop them, they kill you.

  24. Whatevered February 27th, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Mel thanks, I think considering everything let’s just misremember this all happened and have our politicians get back (or start) to work on more important things. And my answer is – I really don’t care anymore.

  25. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Andrea: best line of the night.

  26. Say it ain't so February 27th, 2008 at 6:19 pm

Bla bla bla to Clemens, who even cares what happens to him, he can buy his way out of anything.

Mel, Todd and Jeff NJ, you have me laughing so hard here.

  27. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:21 pm

    lol, Jeff.

Last year someone took the time to make a list of the regular bloggers and put a mental image. This is what mine looked like:

    mel-Vic Tayback

So I googled it, caught the reference, and promptly outed myself saying I was closer to “Flo” than “Mel”.

  28. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

The poll everyone wants to take

    on the sidebar.

Yes, I’m devious. Yes, there’s work I should be doing.

  29. Yankees Mobile February 27th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Will we ever know the truth? Do we care anymore? Or do we want this case to go away?

  30. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Rebecca: I only aim to please.

My personal favorite blog nights were when we combined the “saffron risotto” guy with “markakis.”

  31. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

How did 25 people in Tumbleweed, TX get internet access to vote?

    (j/k)

  32. Buddy Biancalana February 27th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

    flo-

    & what’s your catchphrase?

  33. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:27 pm

Andrea: oh, I remember those nights, they were the first few weeks after I found the blog!

Do you guys know, when I first saw the blog I was way too intimidated to comment? I seriously thought you all were professional baseball people or something, and I thought no one read my comments.

And then someone responded to me and everything changed :-D

  34. Matt February 27th, 2008 at 6:27 pm

He probably did lie. And he will probably wind up in jail. But, why does congress feel the need to get involved in sports. Do they not have enough going on with the economy and 2 wars. It also angered me that the hearing went from being about steroids in baseball to lets attack Roger Clemens. Don’t these people have a country to run?

  35. Vrsce February 27th, 2008 at 6:28 pm

Sad , Roger has no humility.

  36. Geo Diego February 27th, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Nobody took Peds, they were given them (without their knowledge, of course).

  37. Jeff NJ February 27th, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Kiss my grits! Sorry, old folks get that one.

  38. painttheblack23 February 27th, 2008 at 6:30 pm

    This topic totally BORES me.

  39. Jeff NJ February 27th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

Rebecca, we actually are paid professionals. We each get paid about $50 a post. How’d you not know that? If you have any questions, call our blog agent, Scott Boras, he’ll give you the premium package.

  40. Buddy Biancalana February 27th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

    Jeff NJ-

If we are 36 is that considered old by the youngin’s here?

  41. Whatevered February 27th, 2008 at 6:34 pm

Rebecca, Did you take PEDs to enhance your ability to write great lines.

  42. li February 27th, 2008 at 6:36 pm

    Yawn.

  43. Lori February 27th, 2008 at 6:38 pm

Yeah – I was the first to vote on Rebecca’s blog!

  44. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:38 pm

    I think it was (formally),

“Mel, you can kiss my grits!” with the gum smacking.

  45. Lori February 27th, 2008 at 6:39 pm

Boy Jeff, now you’re calling me old??

  46. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:40 pm

Buddy: Once upon a time, but my sis-in-law is now 30 so I can’t.

Jeff: See, I work for free. Part of the whole college gig.

Whatevered: I never considered sugar a PED, but you never know. It’s all random assemblage of carbon-based molecules, anyway.

  47. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 6:40 pm

    I take BlogGH.

  48. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:41 pm

  50. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:44 pm

    Andrea,

    I’m a Blogaholic

  51. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:45 pm

Andrea: Oh, I forgot, I’m on that one too :-D

Mel: Very possibly. Though compared to the other bloggers out there, I’ve got quite a while to go! (Okay, so maybe I’m the most successful sword-collecting-fiction-writing-Yankees blogger, but something tells me there aren’t too many of us around)

And yes, I really am that shameless.

  52. Hen February 27th, 2008 at 6:46 pm

On a completely different and more pleasant note: We should all congratulate Peter, who won a big award today for sports breaking news writing from the American Society of Newspaper Editors.

  53. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:47 pm

    Hen,

Was it the Torre news or just in general? Do you have a link?

  54. Hen February 27th, 2008 at 6:49 pm

I’m not sure of the story (and it;s actually the Associated Press Sports Editors who gave the award).

    Here’s a link:

    http://apse.dallasnews.com/200.....sults.html

  55. LathamJoe February 27th, 2008 at 6:49 pm

Do think Roger lied? Yes. So did Andy Pettitte and most other MLB players – only not to Congress. Let’s face it, this is not about Roger Clemens lying, its about Democratic party loyalty to George Mitchell. Clemens is the lynchpin for the veracity of the Mitchell Report, if he leaves the impression on the general public that he did not use PEDs, Mitchell and his Report are discredited.
How ironic, politicians most of who are habitual liars (IMO), prosecuting a baseball player for lying…Wow!

  56. Whatevered February 27th, 2008 at 6:50 pm

Pete should get an award for best sports blog. Maybe someone should open ‘ The Blog Association’. Best blog I’ve met.

  57. Lori February 27th, 2008 at 6:51 pm

Yeah Pete! Where’s the post on THAT so we can start a new thread and get away from this topic for good.

Can we elect tomorrow (or maybe Friday — since it is such a special day!) PED-free?

  58. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 6:52 pm

mel: do you think we need Bloghab?

  59. Mark Alan February 27th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

I took the poll, voting no. Translate it: “No, I don’t care.” Congress has had me at my wit’s end often enough over the years, and this is another part of it. The judicial system is in place for investigations; Congress should limit its hearings to matters regarding possibly pending legislation, not who was at what party at Canseco’s place.

I’m with Mel. Let’s move on. Our baseball season, in the broad sense the fan’s sometimes use, is just getting started.

I’ve got a better poll. Who wins a fight, both healthy: Dellin Betances or Andy Brackman?

  60. mel February 27th, 2008 at 6:55 pm

    Thanks, Hen.

    That’s awesome, Pete, congratulations!

  61. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 6:58 pm

    Pete: Major congratulations!

  62. mel February 27th, 2008 at 7:00 pm

    Andrea,

    YeS!

  63. Kelli in Conn. February 27th, 2008 at 7:00 pm

Will this story ever die ??? It’s become as boring as a political debate.

  64. Jake February 27th, 2008 at 7:01 pm

Who cares?!!! Its baseball season, not perjury season.

  65. Nick in SF February 27th, 2008 at 7:05 pm

I voted that flam (or is it frits?) didn’t really become best buds with Joba at Penn Station (or was it Grand Central?) and they probably won’t be hitting the clubs together during this season’s home stands. That was the question, right?

  66. Fran February 27th, 2008 at 7:06 pm

    Congratulations Pete.

  67. Jake February 27th, 2008 at 7:10 pm

What is everyone congratulating Pete for? What’d I miss?

  68. saucY February 27th, 2008 at 7:10 pm

rebecca, i took your poll and voted ‘yes’. i care, but that doesn’t mean i want to read/talk about it over and over…

and posted in previous thread, dinner: eggplant parm sandwich :D

  69. mel February 27th, 2008 at 7:12 pm

Kurkjian doing his schtick on espn news. The guy asked if it’s commonplace for gm’s to say things about other team’s players? Tim said no and that he was surprised that Theo said that. He also said to say something about a smart guy like Mussina probably wasn’t a very good idea.

  70. Toast February 27th, 2008 at 7:12 pm

No option for “I don’t care”?

  71. pat February 27th, 2008 at 7:12 pm

Good work Pete. What story did you win for?

  72. Sean Serritella Yankees Daily February 27th, 2008 at 7:13 pm

Rebecca, I need to take BlogGh, all I do is Yankees all day and night. It’s fun but it’s not fun when you don’t sleep that much.

  73. mel February 27th, 2008 at 7:18 pm

Keep up the questions about the award so that Pete will be forced to put up a thread about it. He won’t toot his own horn.

  74. saucY February 27th, 2008 at 7:20 pm

    Pete! Congrats!

    now someone pass the blogahol!

  75. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 7:24 pm

Pete: We want details on the award!

  76. mel February 27th, 2008 at 7:26 pm

  78. Joe from Long Island February 27th, 2008 at 7:30 pm

Pete – Congratulations on your award. Is is for a specific story, or for breaking news in general? Please give us some details.

  79. Sean Serritella Yankees Daily February 27th, 2008 at 7:31 pm

I put this poll on my front page. I said the poll will take you here. I forgot how long ago I did it though.

  80. pat February 27th, 2008 at 7:33 pm

Blogarita on the rocks, no salt, please

  81. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 7:34 pm

You did break that story. Congratulations, again, to you and your paper!

  82. Brian (Red Sox Fan) February 27th, 2008 at 7:35 pm

Just musing ….. I voted against Roger, but the results show that I’m not alone.

One a baseball note, here’s my preliminary Sox/Yankee analyses in a few area.

    (1) Pitching – I think the Yankee have a few more question marks than the Sox (especially in the bullpen) but I think that the staffs are comparable.

    (2) Offense – Solid edge to the Yankees. The only caveats are that the Yankees aren’t getting any younger, and at least two Yankees are coming off career years (Posada and ARod). If the older players don’t bounce back (Giambi, Damon, Abreu, even Jeter), they might not reach expectations.

    (3) Defense – Overall, mediocre at best.
1B : Hard to evaluate; Giambi is awful, and the rest are pedestrian, or trainees. Who knows?
2B : Adequate – Cano has OK range, strong arm, turns the DP. Takes plays off, though (mentally).
SS : Inadequate – re: Jeter, the critics have it right. He’s a great player in spite of his defense.
3B : Adequate – ARod can be a lttle erratic, but he makes the plays he should.
LF : Below average – Damon can catch it, can’t throw it; Matsui is rapidly regressing on all counts.
CF : Adequate – I like Melky’s D …. takes decent routes, decent range, superb arm.
RF : Below average – I don’t like Abreu’s D …. plays in a small OF but won’t go to the wall: questionable range, erratic arm.
C : Adequate – Posada could catch it a little better, but he calls a good game, throws OK. Bonus points for durability.

I think this area (Team Defense) is the primary Sox advantage (on paper). With the exception of LF and C, the Sox are stronger (defensively) at every other position. Also, they have more of a “swing and miss” pitching staff, limiting the balls in play, and minimizing damage.

I’m an old-fashioned guy. These observations are based on what my eyes see, not a set of fielding statistics.

I see that Vegas has the Sox winning 94 1/2 games. the Yanks 93 1/2. Statistically insignificant, as they say.

P.S. Theo should have kept his mouth shut. Maybe he’s jealous of Hank’s press clippings.

  83. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 7:35 pm

Oh, and I’ll take my blog and coke, please.

  84. mel February 27th, 2008 at 7:37 pm

Bush made a joke noting that Manny Ramirez wasn’t here (visiting the White House). “I guess his grandmother died.” Varitek and Papi were laughing.

  85. mel February 27th, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Everyone raise your drinks in a toast to Pete, “Congratulations!”

  86. pat February 27th, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Theo apologized, sort of. Moose took the high road.

  87. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Brian: I think you’re underrating Canò and Johnny’s ability to play left in YS, but other than that I think you’ve got a well grounded opinion :)

  88. Sean Serritella Yankees Daily February 27th, 2008 at 7:41 pm

Congratulations Pete. I enjoy coming to your blog more than anyone else’s because you’re right there with the players and you report stuff no other reporter reports. I hope you keep doing this for a long time. Congrats on your award.

  89. Lori February 27th, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Blogatini – straight up with a couple of bleu cheese stuffed olives!

    To Pete! ;)

  90. Fran February 27th, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Theo really should keep his mouth shut about Mussina. Let’s see how his players react to their trip to Japan and how if affects them.

  93. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

Wait–anyone know the potential affects of Blogahol on a longtime BlogGH user?

  94. Brian (Red Sox Fan) February 27th, 2008 at 7:53 pm

Rebecca – You might be right on Cano – I just think he “styles” a few too many plays. I’m a purist.
I can’t get myself to budge on Damon because he may have the worst OF arm I have ever seen (going back to 1957). Doesn’t hurt as much in LF, obviously.

  95. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 7:55 pm

Brian–out of curiosity, do you post on any Red Sox blogs? If any of us went over there and were as nice as you are and were self-identified Yankees fans, do you think the Red Sox fans would be cordial to us and actually engage in conversation?

  96. Kat February 27th, 2008 at 8:11 pm

To Rebecca and Andrea: I loved those Saffron Risotto nights!!

Is anyone still around that was on Feinsand’s old blog in 2006? That place was wild!!

I miss those days of being able to comment regularly. Now, I just read everyone else’s because I can’t possibly keep up (thanks for getting in the way of my fun, WORK).

So who here is going to Opening Day?

  97. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 8:18 pm

Kat: I’m skipping class to watch it on TV :-D

  98. Brian (Red Sox Fan) February 27th, 2008 at 8:21 pm

Andrea – I drop in on a few Sox Blogs, but not as a regular. Frankly, the comments are so predictable that I’m not inclined to participate with any regularity. There’s no “conflict,” or “tension.” Everyone is on much the same page. I just find it more interesting to see what’s happening elsewhere. (Maybe that’s why I’ve been to Europe in each of the last six years.)

I’m sure if you dropped in on Sox blogs (w/o being obnoxious), you’d be welcome. I hear a lot of talk radio, and Yankee fans are treated in a manner commensurate with their own demeanor. Sox fans enjoy a good discussion, and are not inherently rude. Give it a try the – Globe and Herald would be a starting point).

Warning – we ALL despise Roger Clemens.

P.S. This is an EXCELLENT blog – some jerks, but a lot of knowledgeable people. That’s the main reason that I like to stir the pot occasionally.

  99. Kat February 27th, 2008 at 8:21 pm

Nice… you rebel, Rebecca. I often wonder if you even GO to class, it seems you are always on the blog! How do you have time to go to class, comment here, maintain your own blog and write your book??

  100. Lori February 27th, 2008 at 8:21 pm

Rebecca- When I was young, my dad used to get me out of school every year on opening day and take me to the Stadium. It was great!

Doesn’t Congress have better things to do these days?

  106. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 8:32 pm

As for the other stuff–well, erm, you know, I really don’t know how I do it. Oops.

    Lori: Lucky!

  107. Andrea February 27th, 2008 at 8:35 pm

Brian: I don’t really have interested in going to a Red Sox blog, I was just curious.

Kat: I was going to go to Opening Day, but I gave my tickets to my brother because I went last year and he’s never gone. Aren’t I a nice sister?

  108. gayle February 27th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

    Three things:

    1.

  109. gayle February 27th, 2008 at 8:43 pm

Oops pushed went throughbefore I was finished

    Congrats to Pete well deserved

On the Theo apology of course the apology wasnt issued on WEEI where all the people heard the comment but via a telephone call. As is usually the case the first comment gets more coverage then the apology

On theClemes thing I dont care he will have to deal with this between himself and his own conscious and maybe the law. However perjury and lying are two different things FYI according to the law so believe it or not leglly you can lie but n ot perjure yourself. One of our in house lawyers can explain it better.

  110. mel February 27th, 2008 at 8:44 pm

    saucY,

I’ve gone to opening day the past few years, but I always have to get my tickets on ebay or stubhub. I love it though! It’s my happiest day of the year!

  112. * * THEE BOSTON BUGLE * * February 27th, 2008 at 8:48 pm

Theo “Blunder Boy” Epstein has his foot stuck in his mouth. We’ll see how he changes his tune when his team comes back from Japan and then from the west coast with jet lag.
Mussina will have the last laugh.

  113. Y's Guy February 27th, 2008 at 8:55 pm

theo’s comments were rediculous, but mussina’s bitching about the trip did bother me at the time.

  114. mel February 27th, 2008 at 9:00 pm

    Brian (Red Sox Fan),

Are you not going share your thoughts about your own team? I don’t see you critiquing a single Red Sox player by name.

Just wondering if that was an oversight. :)

  115. mel February 27th, 2008 at 9:01 pm

Is it true that Mussina had a death in the family prior to the trip?

  116. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!! February 27th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

His father in law died. I believe he left the team for a week.

  117. mel February 27th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

    Thanks, Jennifer.

I will be at Opening Day..Can’t wait….Last opening day of the old ball park

  119. hmmm February 27th, 2008 at 9:10 pm

“With the exception of LF and C, the Sox are stronger (defensively) at every other position.”

    and 2B. sorry.

just because you say Cano “mentally takes plays off” doesn’t make it true. can you support that claim with any evidence?

i can support my claim that Cano is a better fielder than Pedroia:

    Cano leads in ZR:
    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/.....zoneRating

Cano leads in Bill James’ +/-:
    http://www.billjamesonline.net.....eaders.asp

Chris Dial of BTF likes Cano ahead of Pedrioa:
    http://www.baseballthinkfactor.....ve_awards/

Tom Tango and MGL, creators of UZR, also prefer Cano:
    http://www.insidethebook.com/e....._2007_uzr/

overall, good post, but Cano is better than Pedroia.

  120. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708 February 27th, 2008 at 9:17 pm

As awesome as Opening Day would be, I’d rather be at the final game of the World Series when the Yankees win :-D

  121. Central Ct Yankee February 27th, 2008 at 9:27 pm

Well Rebecca seeing as though the American League will win the all star game and I assume the Yanks will sweep the World Series game 4 will be on the road. How’s that for optimism…

  122. Kat February 27th, 2008 at 9:29 pm

Haha… Rebecca and Central CT – I like the way you think!

  123. Buddy Biancalana February 27th, 2008 at 9:32 pm

I was at Game 4 of the ’99 WS when the Yanks swept the Braves. It was truly an awesome experience.

  124. raymagnetic February 27th, 2008 at 9:32 pm

    Brian,

Please stick to critiquing your own team. You know nothing about the Yankees. I could combat you point to point but it’s a waist of time. Vegas says that the Sox will win one more game than the Yanks, but Pecota thinks the Yanks are 3 games better than your Sox. Stick to drinking your Boston Lager and leave the critiquing of the Yankees to the experts.

  125. JGNYC February 27th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

In other news, I hear there’s baseball being played in Tampa.

  126. catjya February 27th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Oil is how much a barrel? How many foreclosurers is every state facing? Has louisiana’s levy and New Orleans been rebuilt?….Don’t congress have more important things to focus on? He’s a ball player who appears to have misrepresented the facts about himself and his ped usage, the aforementioned, is really more important! He’s already guilty in the court of public opinnion~

Raymag came to ST in great shape … contract year? :)

  131. ThatWasMe February 27th, 2008 at 9:52 pm

    Brian (Red Sox Fan)
Giving Lugo the defensive edge over Jeter is laughable.
How the argument has evolved the years.

Nomah is a better SS than Jeter!
Ocab is a better than SS Jeter!
Renteria is a better than SS Jeter!
Agon is a better SS than Jeter!
Lugo is ahhh, Jeter is the worst SS in the game!

  132. Ranting Guy February 27th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

Less filling / tastes great –

Now there’s an oldie but a goodie. I haven`t heard that one since college … when someone brought a ‘questionable movie’ to a dorm party.

“… concerning an incident that happened in Florida in 2001, when I was a member
of the Yankee organization. I lied to police officers to
protect friends, ballplayers, coaches, and myself with whom I
worked. – brian mcnamee to congress

    yankee players? yankee coaches ?

if you believe what mcnamee said to congress about clemens, how do not believe what he said about yankee players and coaches being involved in a near fatal sexual assault?

how does this statement about yankee coaches and players committing a sexual just disappear? did mcnamee have something on knoblach? the woman was reported to have been in his room . was pettitte involved? was he one of the players? is there a reason why he doesn’t want to go against mcnamee?

i’m sure when this case hits a court of law. hardin or whoever represents clemens will be asking mcnamee exactly what he meant when he said he lied to protect yankee players and coaches.

as a yankee fan, i’m hoping mcnamee was lying when he said he was protecting yankee coaches and players, if he’s not a liar, the yankees have a serious problem. who was the yankee official the woman was there to see? is he still with the team?

for you who are sure that mcnamee tells the truth, where does that leave you on the yankee players and coaches who mcnamee said were involved in a sexual assault?
you can’t just pick and choose what you believe with mcnamee.

  134. Y's Guy February 27th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

    over 80% calling rocket a liar! and that’s on a yankees blog…..

  135. Ranting Guy February 27th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

But McNamee can pick & choose when he tells the truth.

  136. Dink McFadden February 27th, 2008 at 10:12 pm

    http://mlbfleecefactor.com/200.....r-dodgers/

Anyone see this? With the state of the Yanks farm system and with a bunch of aging vets coming off the books in the next few years I’d say we’re lucky Torre is no longer at the helm. It’s gonna be even tougher for those youngsters in LA to break through with Toree as manager.

  137. li February 27th, 2008 at 10:13 pm

    Congratulations, Pete.

  138. Ranting Guy February 27th, 2008 at 10:14 pm

There’s no use in trying to pick who’s the morally right or wrong dingleberry. It’s no use. There are a lot of liars in the whole debacle, and most of them will never be questioned.

Hey, baseball started today, however unimportant the game was. A new season is here so we don’t have to dwell on the belabored off-season distractions.

  139. raymagnetic February 27th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

    Ranting Guy,

I’m in the Best Shape Of My Life. lol

  140. Chris February 28th, 2008 at 1:14 am

ThatWasMe: Unfortunately, Jeter is the worst defensive SS in the league. And I bleed Yankee blue.
