It is not a given as his salary is only 2 million for '08. The problem is that he has a 6 million dollar option for '09 (250k buyout). If the Pirates keep him and let him walk, they should be in line for Type B compensation. The Yanks would conceivably have to offer a package that Pittsburgh felt was equal to or greater than the sandwich round pick they would get.
