Just when Andy Pettitte thought he was out, he could be pulled back in by the Feds.

I am so excited about today’s game with IPK, Hughes and Joba pitching for our Yankees. I’m trying to maintain a level of reasonable expectations here though. It is their first outing of the season and good or bad, I want to try not to put too much emphasis on the outcome. I wish it was on television. The Mets are on SNY, with Santana pitching for the Mets. The Yankees own YES; why can’t they add this game to their schedule today? Like a “special event” or something?

I understand what Pettitte is saying about having to deal with distractions in baseball all the time, regarding family and things of that nature. The difference here will be the publicity. Most of the time, players are allowed to deal with their personal issues out of the spotlight. Not so in this case. So far, he’s gotten the support that’s going to be required, from his teammates and the organizatin, and I’m sure that will continue to be there. But as the Yankees travel from city to city, it will be like opening the wound again and again. On days he’s not pitching, he can probably escape a lot of it. I suppose he should be happy he’s not a position player, exposed, as it were, to the opposing fans (and some of the hometown fans as well) every game.

Let’s just hope that this doesn’t bother Pettitte during the season. And tonight we’ll see how the young three do as a team.

i see the cubs are now lining up at the public trough too. Theier new plan is to have the government take over wrigley field and renovate it for them and give them a 30 year sweetheart lease to keep them there.
Wrigley makes money faster than they can count it, but why should the cubbies have to shell out when they can just stick it to the taxpayers. Its not like there’s a war on or hungry kids in chicago.

    Baseball should be ashamed.

i read something that the naming rights to wrigley could be sold. would that still be the case?

how strange would it be for that place not to be called ‘Wrigley’? and what if it changed to something like ‘Trident Field’?

i’m sure the plan is for the cubs to collect as much of the naming rights money as possible, even though the city and state will be puttting up the $100M + its going to cost to renovate it. But then again, why should wrigley’s be getting free pub when they dont own the team or the stadium.

then again, how often do you think of the gum when you hear the words “wrigley field”. i know i don’t (except for conversations like these, of course)

Everytime I try to leave somethin’ keeps pullin’ me back me back

If Andy really thinks hard about the probability of “getting pulled back”, he can thank his buddy Roger for that.

Instead of feeling bad for Roger’s situation, Andy should realize Roger is responsible for both Roger’s situation AND Andy’s present dilemma — trying to get ready for the Yankee regular season and having a possible date for testimony if Roger’s indicted.

If Roger had displayed as much humility and contrition as Andy Pettitte has, the baseball page headlines wouldn’t lead every day with Mr. All-About-Me and his “lawyer”.
