What has the world come to? … Jessica Steinbrenner is a children’s author and she gave Joe Girardi some copies of My Messy Room to give to his kids. … Just so you know, the result and statistics from yesterday’s game against USF do not count in the spring stats.

  1. Phil

    Is it a 1 o’clock game?

  2. Lokomo69

    yea

  3. Westerner99

So Kei Igawa is still sporting his 0.00 ERA.

  4. Jeff NJ

Either way yesterday was a great day to be a Yankee fan. The young guns all impress and Santana was mediocre.

  5. Y's Guy

yesterday was a college team, personally except for igawa being embarressed, i count it even less than an intrasquad game.

  6. Josh

Sweet. Today’s game is on MLB.TV.

  7. fleas

Where can I find a schedule to see what Spring Training games are televised??

  8. Y's Guy

i havent signed up for my mlb yet. this games not on wcbs either, so ill be listening in on the computer to the phils broadcast. anybody need the link here it is:
    http://www.thebigtalker1210.com/

  9. Brian

So we saw Austin Romine for four innings yesterday; any chance Montero relieves Molina today, or will that be PJ Pill/Kyle Anson territory? Either way, pretty cool nod to Romine.

  10. Josh

thanks Ys guy, was hoping someone would post something. I know its also on mlbtv if you got that. im not paying for that yet tho.

  11. Y's Guy

so the yanks playing in beautiful PNC Park in Pittsburgh, to me is a gots-to-go type situation. so im turning it into a 6 day/5 city roadtrip.
6/25 & 26 in PITTSBURGH for the Yanks
6/27 at the Jake (i know…) vs. the Reds
6/28 to Detroit hosting the Rocks at comerica
6/29 out of the country for the Jays v Braves
and finally 6/30 in Cincinati for a real NL game vs. the Pirates.

  12. vinny-b

Y’s guy: thank you, for the link. Do not care to waste $bank on mlb, since i receive YES.

  13. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708

    G’morning everyone.

It’s a hard decision to decide between radio and mlb.tv, but I get YES here in Syracuse, so there’s no real point.

However, due to my wonderful schedule, I won’t be able to see a game in its entirety, live, on tv, till after next weekend. Which just kind of stinks.

  14. Adam D

Do you have to pay to watch spring training games on MLB.TV this year? It looks that way…last year it was free!

Being from part of the “imaginary Sox Nation” (Maine) I don’t have the luxury of having the YES Network. For the past two years I have bought MLB.TV and I recommend it to anyone who is debating it.

I am interested to see how Gardner will do this spring as I think he has a shot to be the 5th OF this year.

  15. Y's Guy

i cant get yes so i watch the yanks on mlb all year (27″ computer screen) and its great. i just dont have 100 clams i want to throw down at this moment.

warning to listeners of the phils broadcast, Harry Kallas, voice of the Phitin Phils is not nearly as good at baseball as he is in his great 20+ yr run as the voice of nfl films.

  16. Sean Serritella Yankees Daily

Thanks for your lineup today Peter. You’re like the only one who has it posted on the net and thanks to Y’s guy for posting the link to the game.

  17. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!!

y’s guy, are you sure that they will broadcast it on the radio? I know the Yankees don’t stream their games on wcbs.

  18. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!!

I keep asking for help and I guess no one knows how to fix the problem. For some reason a website keeps appearing in the field. It says deleted. I always forget to get rid of it. But does anyone know how I can stop it from appearing.

  19. LibertyBelle

Y’s Guy- if you’re in Philly, the game is on Channel 57

And, Harry Kalas is awesome. He’s getting older, of course, and slipping a bit, but he and Richie Ashburn were the best together. The more I listen to other teams’ announcers, the luckier I feel to have been able to listen to Kalas for so long. The guy is a treasure and highly respected around the game. The football stuff is completely secondary.

  20. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708

Mlb.tv was great for me last year when I needed it, but as I’m unlikely to need it this year, I’ll pass on it and listen to the radio till the games start appearing on YES.

  21. Charming

    gogogogogogoggogo……..

    A-God……………………..

  22. Skippy

I saw Jon Albaladejo pitch for the Nats a few times last year and he was great. That was a nice pickup that didn’t get much publicity (okay, I know, I probably just cursed the poor kid’s season…).

  23. Dee

In the NY Times Play magazine today (their special sports supplement), they have pinstripes on the cover and the “Opedipus Bronx” article already posted online as the cover story. There’s a side bar blurb in the article I didn’t see online, titled “The Algebra of Arod”. Some math professor analyzed Arod’s contribution to the team and basically “concluding” that anyone who looks at the math should not have been surprised why he still doesn’t have a ring. Really bogus math. Highlight being without Arod, the math professor figures our chance of beating Sox to win the AL East this year would have been 16%. And with Arod, it’s still only 39%.

It’s a stunt piece, which I understand. But let me just say this: Yanks and the Steinbrenner story are on the cover. what Red Sox Nation?? By the way, the photographer and art director did a great job on pinstripes cover.

  24. x23

any way we could watch this game? mlb.tv seem to have the game.

  25. CB

It’ll be interesting to see how Shelley does. 5 right handers going for the phillies and an opportunity to play first base.

If he can play the position defensively and hold his own against major league right handers that will give the team a great deal of additional flexibility.

Also interesting to see how Ohlendorf looks. He was working on a spit finger over the off season to see if he could use it as his second pitch.

  26. Jake

Have any of you tried out MLB.TV this season yet? If so, how is it compared to last year (if you used it last year). I used it last year, loved it, and heard the quality is better this year. Can anyone confirm this?

Is the streaming better as well? That was my one quirk, but I suppose that is part of the package when using the internet to watch a baseball game.

  27. Dr. Cox

    This game is tomorrow right?

  28. Jake

I think its today Dr. Cox.

  29. Adam D

    Today…

I certainly hope MLB.TV has better quality than last year. I guess we will find out today!

  30. Mike Sommer

I enjoy taking Pete’s blog info and using it as my own in my Sommer Frieze column. Its a joke and pathetic attempt at an online blog.

  31. MikeEff - Shelley at First

jake , i think the few games that have ben on MLB.TV this year have not been broadcast in the “premium mode” in other words 400 K. once the season starts they claim it will go up to 1.2 M. a significant quality improvement.

hey mike sommer…your blog is great!

  32. MikeEff - Shelley at First

skippy i saw albaladejo pitch against the braves last year. he looked very good.

heres another yankee blog on the web, i made it

    http://nyyrollcall.blogspot.com/

  35. EY

Damn…this game is televised here in New York. Anyone know if there’s a way to watch it without resorting to MLB.TV?

I remember there was this program that streams live from ESPN Asia, which shows all games with Wang…but I forgot how to get it.

  36. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!!

    ross link doesn’t work.

  37. MikeEff-Shelley at First

    hey Jenn!

  38. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!!

Hi Mike, How are you this fine Saturday morning.

  39. Travis

Harry Kalas is one of the best on baseball… love listening to him.

Can someone do me a favor and check ticketmaster.com? I was checking for tix earlier, and suddenly I can’t connect to that site.

  40. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!!

  45. Adam D

Anyone remember Carl Pavano making his first start against the Phillies in Clearwater last year? hahaha

  46. Travis

Thanks, Mike. Must be something happening on my end. All of a sudden I can’t get to ticketmaster. Maybe God doesn’t want to me go to Yankees Stadium after all. :)

  47. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!!

    boo they aren’t playing it.

  48. Sean Serritella Yankees Daily
