Live-blogging the Phillies-Yanks game
-
- March
- 2
Welcome to Legends Field. There’s not a cloud in the sky, it’s 76 degrees and it’ll be Andy Pettitte against Cole Hamels.
George Steinbrenner, who has been around a lot this spring, is watching the game from outside his suite. Big Stein looks pretty good.
1:16 and we’re underway. Jimmy Rollins pops to second on the second pitch.
Here’s the Philly lineup:
Rollins 6
Werth 8
Utley 4
Burrell 7
Feliz 5
Pascucci DH
Taguchi 9
King 3
Coste 2
Werth walks on a full-count fastball that was up.
This game is on YES and WCBS, by the way. But feel free to chime in here if you’re watching from home.
Utley 6-4-3. Just what Pettitte wanted.
MIDDLE OF THE FIRST
Another big crowd here at soon-to-be-Steinbrenner Field. The Yankees are in their pinstripes and the Phillies in their BP jerseys, which look like softball uniforms.
I hear from sources that Anthony McCarron of The Daily News is live-blogging this game as well. Two things on that: McCarron is just showing off for his wife and adorable daughter, who are down in Florida with him. Plus the bum is about to leave on a 10-day vacation. What kind of baseball writer gets a vacation in March?
As for the bottom of the first:
Damon: grounds to second
Jeter: flies to left
Abreu: singles to right and steals second
A-Rod: walks
Giambi: A bomb to right field deep into the new patio deck. 3-0 Yankees.
Posada: grounds to third
TOP OF THE FIRST
Burrell: Grounds to second.
Feliz: Singles then is picked off by Pettitte. Giambi chased him down.
Pascucci: Strikes out looking.
That should be it for Andy Pettitte: 2 1 0 0 1 1
BOTTOM OF THE SECOND
Cano: Grounds to second
Lane: Homer to left. 4-0 Yankees.
Cabrera: Walks
Damon: K
Jeter: K
TOP OF THE THIRD
Steven White now pitching for the Yankees
So Taguchi, Brennan King and Chris Coste had singles to cut the lead the lead to 4-1. White then got Rollins to ground into a 4-6-3 double play. Werth then flew to center.
BOTTOM OF THE THIRD
Fabio “I’m not Fidel” Castro pitching for the Phillies.
Abreu: hard single into right
A-Rod: Fly to center
Giambi: ropes an opposite-field double to the gap in left. Abreu scores. 5-1 Yankees.
Posada: Flies to left
Cano: Strikes out.
TOP OF THE FOURTH
Utley: Singles
Burrell: walks
Feliz: Fielder’s choice to short, Burrell out at second, Utley to third.
Pascucci: Walks to load the bases.
Taguchi: Grounds over the third-base bag. Nice play by A-Rod to throw the runner out at first as a run scores.
King: Sharp grounder that eats up A-Rod and goes into left as two runs score.
5-4 Yankees. Steven White is finished and Scott Patterson is coming in to pitch.
Clubhouse time. Pettitte is available. We’ve played 4 and the Yankees lead 6-4.

Go Andy!
On YES and MLBtv, if anyone was wondering…
Memo to micheal kay: That IS rubbing it in.
…testing…
I love the sound of the pitches hitting the mitt. I know it’s lame, but I do!
…It’s not a Pettitte start without a DP. And I should stop hogging the comments, I know.
I looks so nice down there. I wish I was there.
Why is Nathan Lane playing left field?
Surprisingly, it’s actually sunny here in midstate New York…but the temperature outside is still freezing.
Unfortunately, I am at a friend’s place and he has no cable! What sort of blasphemy is that. I want to watch Yankees baseball…
Has anybody seen anything lately from Green Beret7? I don’t remember seeing anything for quite a while.
GB7, if you’re out there, I hope that you’re doing better. I know that you’ve been ill and just wanted to let you know that I miss your posts. Keep fighting the good fight, sir!
Last time I made a comment about it being sunny in Syracuse I was rewarded with about six inches of snow in the next hour.
Thus, my lips are sealed.
god I’m like half hungover watching this today
Abreu is so deceiving.
HOLY CRAP! Look at Giambi!
Big G looks like he is trim and fit
that’s like, half a Giambi!
crushed
YEAH GIAMBINO!
Nice shot by the g-man !!!
Great now I have to type that all year whe he comes to the plate
OCD anyone!
big G!!!
These guys look great.
!
GIUSEPPE FRANCO, you’re on TV.
Giambi looks slim
must be the haircut ;]
JJ: you just have to do it until he gets into a slump. Then you’ll blame yourself for the slump and youn can stop.
Giuseppe back on TV, Giambino/Contract year is hitting 3 run HR
YEP BASEBALL IS BACK !
Am not listening on the radio is STerling i mid season form with the HR calls? Kay certainly is NOT
“Why is Nathan Lane playing left field?”
he’s practicing for “the Birdcage 2″
OK, so today I’m the SOL one who isn’t getting this game on TV, can’t figure out how to find it on radio & can’t find my MLB Audio password from last year (I’m a bit hung over too, which isn’t helping haha.) Anyway….what’s happening?! Giambino homer?? What’s the score?
nice play Robbie
Giambino’s trying to one-up Shelly with another 3-run bomb in the first inning.
So…who should we have playing 1st?
Yankee Baseball is awesome…
oh, nevermind, Pete just updated.
i wish michael kay would just shut up about the HGH for gods sake
Jason looks much better now.
Nice try Jeter. Next time.
Wow Jason!! I know it’s still early in the season (or pre-season!) but I just may jump on Girardi’s Giambi Love bandwagon too! he looks great!
Memo to Kei Igawa: if you are in better shape, you tend to perform better in sport.
Dan he does look trim!! I am about 30 seconds behind.
Cole Hamels is pitching, right? Good sign that Giambi crushed one off him.
looks like jeets got him…drat
I wish I could watch this game. No YES.
right now Giambi w/ Duncan 2nd and Bet not too far behind
fatboy ran him down
…I so called that earlier.
Not a Pettitte start without the DP, not the Pettitte start without the pickoff.
MikeEff, Agree! Michael Kay, please drop it and move on, it’s time to play baseball!
classic andy!!
Agree Mike, he needs to stop it. You are supposed to be biased about the Yankees, so stop trying to prove to everyone you aren’t!!
Andy still has the best pickoff move in the game.
Andy looked great!
Happy Sunday, everyone.
Check out Giambi - who needs to throw to second in a rundown when you can just chase the runner down on your own? Wow. LOL
hey wolf!
so who’s pitching for us next?>
Really good 2 inings by Andy. Especially his pick-off.
MikeEff: White, I think.
Everyone looks to be in great shape. Except for Cano. He looks fat. Does anyone else agree?
Like I said yesterday, so much for small ball
Nice!! Jason Lane! what’s the scoop on this guy??
LANE
welcome to the yanks jason lane!
Nice swing from Lane there…I wouldn’t mind seeing him play often…
Yankees getting trigger happy very early in the season I see…
thanks rebecca
Jason Lane is making his case.
That’s the Yankees 6th homerun in 2 games.
Hey Mike.
I believe Rebecca is correct - White is next up on the mound.
Holy crap - a dinger by Lane. Is Robin Williams going to pop out of the stands to slap him on the butt?
Here’s the pitching lineup courtesty river avenue blues:
Andy Pettitte (2 innings)
Steven White (1-2 innings)
LaTroy Hawkins
Kyle Farnsworth
Brian Bruney
Sean Henn
Jose Veras
http://riveraveblues.com/2008/03/02/st-game-2-the-first-one-on-tv-2245/#comments
Rebecca, I’m near Canandaigua and going to the ‘cuse next week…. he IS rubbing it in, I agree! So nice to have baseball back!!
We’ve got some serious competition going on among the 1B candidates, huh?
So what is the deal on Lane?
Thanks CB.
Never thought I;d say this in a million years but I’m looking forward to seeing Farnsy and Bruney.
OK I finally unearthed my MLB audio password….just in time to miss Andy’s innings! But the general consensus is that he looked good? I would have loved to have seen that pickoff!
I still say Marcus Williams is the better PG
anyway here’s White
well lets not go nuts over jason lane after one at bat…
Hey BBB
and yeah , i agree Dee
That’s ok Robbie, spring is the time to get those high throws out of your system!
com’on settle down White
Wow everyone in contention for the 1B job has hit a dinger! It’s your turn now Ensberg!
So, right now, White doesn’t look that good…
Steven White is not looking so good.
Damn now I am far behind. My uncle called me and I couldn’t get him off the phone.
BBB, I think you’re my favorite. You always make me laugh…
Can someone tell me something about White? I thought he was really good…Could this just be really good?
DAVID WRIGHT SHOULD NOT HAVE WON THE MVP I DON’T CARE ABOUT THE COMPUTER GROUP MICHAEL KAY!
…sorry…
White can’t throw a breaking ball for a strike…hasn’t yet
Not looking good for White.
Cool, a double play for White.
who exactly IS this steve white? forgive my ignorance
Nice DP!
Just turned this on.. Wow Giambi really does look a lot skinner.
J-Tab so catches that ball
nice catch Melky!
So for those watching how bad is White missing spots when he misses? Sterling is no good whatsoever for providing that kind of information. I still vote that the USF commentators should get his job!
That’s why we love Melky
I think Veras is the guy to watch in this game.
Question on him is his command. Specifically, was his poor command last year due to his recent TJ surgery or is it something that’s not going to dramatically improve as time goes on from his surgery? His command in the minors was mixed before his surgery though it looked like it had settled down in 2006 before going under the knife.
He has strong stuff and of all the candidates for the pen may have the best raw stuff.
If he can throw strikes they will be a long way towards having a decent relief corp.
MELKYYYYYYYYYY
Rough inning for White. Hey, how ’bout those right field bleachers? Nice addition.
MELKY!!
Was Steve White part of the Miniscule (uh I mean Big) Unit trade? Or was that Steven Jackson?
Nice snare by Melky to save White’s hide!
BBB
Jackson
His name is Fabio. That’s fantastic.
Steve White has been in the system a long time (He’s 27). The hope for him has always been around his velocity. He has a good fastball (92-94 ish) and they’ve been waiting for him to add complementary pitches.
Last year was the year they were hoping he was going to take a step forward but he go hurt.
He’s so far down the depth chart of arms now I think his window has closed. His future in the majors is probably relief. But that future may not be with the yankees.
He’ll start the season in the scranton rotation.
of course Phillies fans booed. That’s like, all they do.
LOL @ Fabio. I want to hear the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter ad during the commercial break!
Bobby came to play.
Rebecca: They even booed Santa Claus! Not to mention Mike freakin Schmidt…
does michael kay think there is anyone watching this game that DOESN’T know about the opt-out? drop your tired rhetoric kay…
Yeah, so there’s some competition for first.
Now I am 20 minutes behind. UGH! Why do people call when the Yankees are on?
Alex just missed it, Jason/Contractino lines one for a 2B
Giambi AGAIN!
Giambino’s looks locked-in
BBB: who boos Santa Claus!? How did they even get that opportunity?
Big G baby!!
Wow, the Yankees are hitting really well. I’m really suprised at how well Giambi is doing.
Hmm. Listening to YES.. They’re talking about how they want Giambi to play first because Matsui will be the DH.. I don’t know.. I hope Matsui has to earn that spot as much as anybody on the team right now.
are giambi and duncan the same people? homer - double.
thanks for the info CB
great day for G
Mike I like how he asked why Philly fans boo’d Bobby, not to long ago we did the same
I was SO excited to see/hear Kay for like 3 minutes. Then he started harping on HGH. Then he started talking about the opt-out. Now he’s telling us that we hear the wind.
Seriously?
Jorge just got under it…
“It’s a balloon.” LOL!!
jorge gave it a ride!
Andrea: I think it was Eagles fans years ago, when Santa made an appearance at one of their games. I’ve also heard they have a jail underneath the Linc in case of an “episode” by an unruly fan - apparently there are plenty! lol, only in Philly…
Jason Lane
cano is still susceptible to that high fastball
BBB: that’s so wrong! I did hear that about the jail though.
Just look at Giambi’s FACE! He’s so must trimmer!
Lane is dangerous
Steve White in trouble again.
Ok,the Santa-booing story is old and needs to go! Basically, it was some skinny guy dressed up in a Santa suit that they brought down to the field at an Eagles game (not at the Linc or the Vet… the one before- Franklin Field?). There’s an element of Philly fans that I can’t stand (the type of fans who treated Abreu like crap, basically, and wouldn’t know a good baseball player if he hit them upside the head), but we’re not all bad.
did any of you guys just lose the game?
I’m not looking to be a Philly apologist, but several stadiums have the same security facilities that the Eagles have.
my tv screen for yes is all jumbled…
not to beat up on cano, but it looks like he’s missing bowa
White looks nervous
the picture feed from YES on MLB TV is OK
it’s back now.
You can’t judge by one game, but I’m not too impressed with White right now.
oh…now its messed up on MLB TV Too
A-Rod did the Jeter throw
damn you YES !
oops.
That looked like more of an error to me.
mine is still messed up even during commercials.. and its like that on all of my tv’s…
LibertyBelle: I’d never heard the Santa story
what’s going on? i still have no picture on MLB TV
Seems like I lost it on MLB.TV too.
Rebecca,
Don’t worry. Laptops makes Steven White look like Cy Young.
now its just a black screen.. anyone else???
they took white out of the game?
Patterson is nasty btw
Scott Patterson in for Steven White.
LibertyBelle: You’re right, it isn’t everyone! Being a Giants fan my main issues are with Eagles fans, lol, but even some of them are okay. I don’t mind Phillies fans except the ones that booed Abreu mercilessly (I once went to a doubleheader where he hit a walkoff HR in the first game, and they were booing him again by his 2nd AB in game 2!) and the ones that blame the players for the FO’s bad moves.
Mike: Yeah, two bad throws from Cano today. Hopefully he is shaking off all the rust now! Thankfully he still has Jeter to keep him in line, but I know he is missing Bowa.
so someone hit a homer on white?
Andrea- it’s one of those things that gets brought up all the time, and if you’re from Philly you just get sick of it
There are plenty of jerks around- just like there are in all cities.
Looks like everything is back to normal on MLB.TV
And that Steven White has made a good case to be one of the first pitchers sent to minor league camp.
Wow, Lane, I’m impressed.
Wow, Jason Lane looking good!
How did Lane just make a triple. He looks slow as mollasses.
Still too early but so far so good for Lane.
Girardi running drills
And the Giambi-Lane duel continues….. LOL
Is Shelley somewhere begging the coaches to let him into the game as well?
Yeah Johnny D!
BBB- except for being a Giants fan, you seem like a smart guy
Except for last year, of course, the Phillies had not won anything in a long time. Fans are frustrated, but they end up laying blame on the wrong people. The treatment of Abreu by a lot of people was just wrong. I don’t doubt your story for a second. He definitely had his fans, though (and some even followed him).
good to see JD get one
Does anybody else here keep getting a blank screen when trying to refresh the comments?
LibertyBelle: I actually really like Phillyl. But I’ve never been to a sporting event.
Michael Kay: shut it. Be positive or don’t talk.
Um, no Michael Kay. A-Rod said “Jeter is going to have an MVP season”, he didn’t say he would win the MVP.
I like it. Home runs AND moving people over. Scoring in lots of different ways. Just keep it going during the season.
Giambi will probably be worn out before the season even gets started. What a shame.
Andrea, think we should indoctrinate Kay in our Optimism Campaign?
how is having an MVP season translated into “He will win the MVP ?”
and 2nd over who ! the guy to the left and right of Jetes has more chance at that.
You know, even when Bobby’s making an out he’s hitting it well.
Cool we get to hear Girardi speak.
Saffron Risotto!
SAFFRON RISOTTO!
My life is complete.
Saffron Risotto commercial!!!!
yeah, rebecca bobby has been looking really great so far. he didn’t make a single out in the USF game and it took him until late yesterday to make one. glad to see him get off to a great start
Who’s this with #22?
LaTroy Hawkins
Rebecca: how do we convince Kay to be optimistic?
Giambino’s arms look huge.
Signing Lane to a minor league deal was a good move for depth. They also actually need outfielders to fill in the Scranton roster, especially a veteran.
Lane got 171 AB last year in the NL and hit .171 with a .599 OPS. He’s a career .241 hitter. His last good year was 2005.
The optimal thing for the bench is if Betemit shows that the weight he’s lost he can be an effective backup middle infielder and Shelley and Ensberg lock down spots.
That would give them many more options against left handed pitching.
kenny is SO much better than Kay…
hawkins lookin’ good
I like the interviewing Girardi on air, though others may disagree.
I was cool for Girardi to walk over to congratulate Melky. It was not cool for Michael Kay to ask Joe about Andy and the Mitchell Report. For the nth time, Kay, enough already.
good points all around CB
Andrea: Hmm, good question.
Kay will say the same 3 things all year.
1. hgh and Pettitte
2. Arod and opt out
3. arod saying Jeter will win an mvp this year. Even though that isn’t what he said.
I like interviewing Kay during a ST game. During a regular game, I don’t think it would work.
i like it too rebecca, as long as kenny asks the questions…
did Girardi just refer to ground ball ratios
damn he’s scaring me
dee are you serious? I am 10 minutes behind. Pete tell Kay everyone thinks he is an idiot!
I suck at typing. I meant interviewing Girardi. Not Kay.
Betemit is trim
Nice inning by Hawkins. If Joba is not in the bullpen Hawkins will probably be the 7th or 8th inning pitcher.
generation tres? That’s worse than the Big Three!
Generation Trey. I’d like a better name than that though.
I can’t believe I’m watching baseball.. This is amazing.
Kay is a cheeseball
Yeah, that is the worst nickname ever, I don’t think it will ever catch among the fans. And if it does, a lot of people will need to be slapped in the face.
leave it to Micheal Kay to come up w/ something corny
Ahh, Farnsy.
Ok Kyle…
Lets see what you’ve got buddy.
…Picks up where he left off.
Farnsworth is a whole new man. New hair, and his pants are not NEARLY as tight.
That wasn’t good though.
haha Jorge making himself comfortable in the coaches chairs.
ok Kyle…lets see a nice fresh start..!!
Well, that didn’t take long. Farnsworth being Farnsworth.
LOL what else is new, the bullpen getting ready to give up Andy’s lead!
Yikes..
Sigh, Farnsy. Picking up right where he left off!
hahah Farnsy off to a good start
___oh well___
*yawn* same ol’……
actually, Farnsworth left off doing pretty well. just no one remembers it. We only remember the bad times.
MR.EXCITEMENT
Farnsworth is in mid-season form!
You guys are right. Picking up right were he left off.
Farnsworth being Farnsworth. I love it.
Jennifer yes I wish he didn’t but he sure did. Agree, Pete, plese tell Kay the fans asked for a gag order.
Ok that didn’t take long. Taking back what I said about wanting to see Farnsworth.
andrea is right. he got his act together with pitching in the windup
Too bad Pete’s in the clubhouse, would have loved to hear him comment on that AB.
Suzyn still has her love for him. LOL!! I mean c’mon not to the first batter.
Generation tre?? what the heck is that?! How about the three amigos? Generation tre is stupid! Three amigos makes sense because they are good friends as well.
Hawkins said that last year he basically changed his entire approach towards pitching becoming a sinker ball centered pitcher.
Hopefully its true that he’s a different pitcher compared to last time he was in the AL east with Baltimore.
3 ground ball outs are a good sign.
Same old Farnsy of course. Susan Waldeman just went on with this 30 second speech about how it was a whole new Farnsy, better attitude and how Joe Girardi believes in him, etc, etc.
The notion that Farnsy is going to be a different pitcher because Girardi is here is nonsense. The things this organization says in order to get something out of Farnsworth is unbelievable.
Walk year of his contract - I’d buy it. But implicitly blaming Torre for Farnsworth is absurd.
Michael Kay will beat the same old things to death. He’ll never be accused of originality. He probably eats the same things every day.
Farnsworthless, must still like his nickname.
Jennifer,
Are they all actually really good friends? I know Joba and Ian consider themselves best friends, but I havent heard anything on Phill really.
Who is behind the plate. The guy is huge!
Okay, so it could have been worse.
And I do NOT like this FoxNews/YES hybird. Yuck.
Can Kay tell us who is on the field now? They changed the entire team yet I don’t know who is playing where.
Jenn cut him some slack it is game 1, he hasn’t touch the mound like that since last season
Dr. I believe I’ve read they are all friends. I could be wrong.
this is an OUTRAGE mixing the right wing hate-mongers from FOX with the YES network
jennifer: For the Yanks? Could be Montero, maybe? Montero is jacked.
From what I’ve read, Ian and Phil consider themselves best friends….
I was listening on the radio and as Farnsworth came in, Sterling was going on about his problems, how he came into camp this year with a new attitude, etc., etc. Then he said, “People remember his failures a lot more than his successes, and he’s had a lot of them.” Just as he finished those words, Burrell swung…
Rebecca is right. I hate this Fox/Yes hybird
Can we leave politics out of this?
Who cares about what FNC and the YES Network alliance.
Everything went south when he stopped taking steroids. lol
laptop stealer 2 IP, 5 hits, 4 ER, 1 HR
Dr. Cox: I think Jennifer’s right. Kennedy and Hughes hang out a lot, and Joba and Kennedy seem to be pretty close. and I’ve heard of Hughes and joba spending time together last season.
i care. the point is that we DON”T want mixing of sports and politics
Guiseppe: I’d hate it even if it was YES/CNN. Politics has no business in baseball.
Skippy: It’s all timing…
Jennifer,
Take this for whats its worth. (meaning some people may not believe it, but oh well.) Last June, My girlfriend at the time and her roommate were at Park in NYC and her roommate met a nice fellow by the name of Tyler Clippard. Tyler was there with Shelley, Ian, Joba and Phil. She said that Tyler said that Shelley, Ian, Joba and Phil had formed their own little Clique and that he felt uncomfortable around them.
I know some of them were in the minors at the time, but I guess they were in the city for something.
Again, take it for what its worth. I didnt believe it at first either, but these girls wouldnt know Derek Jeter if he tapped them on their shoulders. Then she started spouting off all these prospect names. Also, she had many pictures of her and Tyler from that night. So I started to beloieve it. Hope this answers and questions about their friendships.
who cares?
Rebecca and I. Can’t you read?
We’re not brining politics in this, the Yes Network is.
Brandon: the Red Sox youngsters aren’t doing so well.
Brandon, thanks for the line!
thank you brandon for that welcome bit of news…sounds like he and lester aren’t having a stellar start
what are you guys talking about with this Fox News/YES thing?
I can’t get the game here.
LOL @ Laptops. Stealing doesn’t pay! Thank goodness Hughes is a law abiding citizen
You’re right. Politics and sports do not mix.
I beat that drum all the time on this blog but people talk about it anyways.
But this was just a news segment. Nobody is trying to convert anyone.
Bob: YES has FoxNews do election/news updates in the middle of the sixth inning. It’s kind of annoying.
Sean Henn…not sure if this is going to end well, but here’s hoping.
I posted the Play Magazine article. It’s a great read. It really is.
ok lets see if henn doesn’t lay an egg
Oh, they did those Fox News things last year too. As long as it’s between innings and I can flip the channels, I’m fine with taking their money.
7th inning Micheal Kay still doesn’t announce position changes
i wish they would give us more substitution info rather than gossip about hank
exactly brandon!
Okay since our brilliant broadcaster doesn’t tell us about the changes, I’ll tell you the ones that I’ve figured out
Betemit, SS
Curtis, RF
Ransom, 3B
“Sean Henn…not sure if this is going to end well”
Well it sure didn’t start well! I know it’s only spring and too early for foregone conclusions, but this is just more of the same from Henn. I think I have seen enough of him to last me the rest of my life already!
who’s on first?
thanks jenn
I’ve been told that Sean Henn lives in my town. I live in a really small town. He shouldn’t be hard to find.
What
Maybe they should move Henn to one of the fielding positions and let Shelley pitch and DH.
Hank Steinbrenner owns Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, why would he care about a hat signed by David Ortiz???
also:
miranda at first
justin christian in center
woodward at third
Alberto Gonzalez at second
Juan Miranda but to everyone else who doesn’t follow minor league depth they are like who the hell is 72 ?
I don’t remember anyone brining up politics except for G. Franco.
I did see Rebecca and I mention the Yes/Fox marriage during ball games suck.
Franco then asks that we stop brining up politics, when it was he, hmself that brought them up.
I can’t wait for the Red Sox to overpay for Manny in 7 months.
The thing is Rebecca, the Yankees need a left hander. I don’t understand why they don’t invest more into left handers with the short right field porch. I think their next 5 draft choices should be all lefty pitchers.
CB: Thanks for the update.
Dee: I believe it’s a joke
so henn was OK…but he did get behind in the count every time…
thks CB
Sean: Billy Traber’s a lefty! And yeah, I know, the Yankees are kinda not in a good situation there.
Jennifer and CB, thanks for the info.
We’d better score some runs here. Even though it’s still only ST, would hate to see the BP giving up the lead again.
Henn is hitting 95 mph he sat on 92 last season
Not exactly, Nettles. Read the posts.
This is the comment that started it all….
“this is an OUTRAGE mixing the right wing hate-mongers from FOX with the YES network
My “who cares” comment was @ 3:00PM. Above comment was @ 2:56PM
I’m rooting for Traber
Was that Montero that was catching last inning?
G.F. I didn’t see that. I’m not going to check time stamps.
I’ll take your word for it.
being how Rebecca and I posted about Fox, and you didn’t quote, nor address who you were commenting towards, I thought you were talking to us.
“The thing is Rebecca, the Yankees need a left hander. I don’t understand why they don’t invest more into left handers with the short right field porch. I think their next 5 draft choices should be all lefty pitchers.”
I’m just going to assume this is a joke. There’s no way in hell the Yankees should draft based on what hand a pitcher throws with. Hughes/Chamberlain/Kennedy are all right handed and all pretty good I think.
Kyle: No, apparently Molina.
Nevermind, it’s Molina catching.
that Carrasco is nasty
Rebecca, come to think of it, it’d be funny if Henry really did send Hank a sox hat. Hank being Hank, who knows what he may do with it, it could be serious LOL.
Henry set up the perfect opportunity for Hank to fix the damage. Hank should say that he’s humbled by the honor. And then add he’s always wanted to be president and looks forward to running in the next Red Sox Nation election.
I too am rooting for Traber to make it as the situational lefty. Don’t remember who it was, but someone here referenced very interesting stats yesterday, that his below avg career numbers are a result of facing way more righties than lefties. His numbers vs LHBs have actually been pretty respectable.
What I wonder is, why has it not yet occurred to anyone to use him as a lefty specialist?
This might be interesting.
PAY ATTENTION BEFORE YOU ATTACK FRANCO
i was responding to YOUR comment:

i care. the point is that we DON”T want mixing of sports and politics
Bruney in! This is the inning I’ve been waiting for, VERY anxious to see the effect of the weight loss.
Mel Hank should say I know a few people who are short on fire wood and need something to keep the fire going, I’ll send it on to them along with my membership card.
Once again, picking up where we left off.
Meet the new Bruney, same as the old Bruney..
Rebecca: Sterling is all about the timing. That’s his bizarre genius.
I understand everyone would like to see a lefty in the bullpen, but bringing along a bad one just for the sake of having one won’t help. I’m guessing they’d like to draft some, but they must just be hard to find right now. I imagine that in the draft it would be hard to pass on a right-handed sure thing for a left-handed project.
Good heavens, Bruney is a wraith! He must be wearing last year’s uniform!
Seems EVERYONE is picking up where they left off…
I see Wilson picked up from where he left off. Another strike out.
New Bruney???
nice K bruney!!
Farnsworth started with a lead-off HR, then turned out ok.
Bruney started with a lead-off walk, and now is pitching ok.
Things are looking up!
I just HAD to say something.
Yeah the K was nice, actully it’s still ST lets wait an other week or so.
Wow bruney Looks like a completely different person.
last year he was a fatty mcgee face. This year, though he still can’t pitch, atleast hes healthy.
Yeah that was a nice pitch by Bruney before for the K. For those watching, how close was that last hit to being caught in center? Cause if Melky could have caught it, I’ll just consider it an out
Sterling saying Billy Wagner threw a tantrum when a college hitter tried to bunt on him…haha I hate Wagner, I hope he finishes this season with a 72.43 ERA!
that was actually a lucky hit
I take the blame for this.
If this keeps up then yes Joba needs to stay in the pen.
that was an ugly pitch
What did he do to the poor kid?
BBB: yeah, he said something like “Save that for when you play Villanova” and threatened to throw at one of the players. Against a college team. I hate Wagner.
that sucked..i know its only spring training but i still like winning
Andrea,
never take the blame for some thing you said.
Not when Bruney is involved. lol
Yeah that is what it seemed like Brandon. I’m definitely not worried about bloops, it is if he’s giving up hard line drives that would be cause for concern.
MikeEff
Whatever, dude.
You threw the first bomb and injected your own personal politics with your “hate mongers” crap.
I don’t care one iota about FNC, but it was just a news segment. Since we can’t dictate what YES does with their money, there’s no need to get your panties in a bind over it and make it a bigger non-issue.
aww, Miranda robbed!
Wow nice catch!!!! What a dive
Andrea when did he say this? Who did he say this to?
that was a nice catch. He went all out, and needed ever inch of his body, and every ounce of speed.
great catch!
Nice hustle by the Atourney General
Was out and just turned the game on. Bruney looks physically awesome — I am impressed with how much better he looks in that regard. I didn’t see anything before the bloop hit, which was not a well hit ball. Was he just rusty?
Andrea: He (Wagner) also talked a lot of smack about El Duque over the offseason. Saying Duque is
