One year, Torre emphatically stated that Mo would only pitch 3 outs. That lasted a couple of weeks until he had a "must win" game in April. He learned his lesson after that and would only say he would limit Mo's 4 or more out appearances.

If Girardi is as smart as people say he is he will not make a statement like that. But he will also not pitch Mo lie that unless it is truly critical. How he differs from Torre re handling the pitching staff is one of the things I am most interested in watching.

"Can we assume that Girardi is not going to make any ridiculuours rules this year about Mo be limited to 3 outs an appearance"

Those rules were actually a good idea for an aging pitcher, especially one who'd succumbed to forearm trouble late in the previous season.

Look i love mo and all but does anyone else think that maybe he should do a little more work this spring? His last 2 seasons have not started out well. It's almost like he doesn't really get into form until early May. I know he hadn't seen much action in April last year because of how the Yankee's played plus the large number of off days in the early schedule but could a few extra innings this spring really hurt?

I have a non-panic question. Does Mo mentor the young latin pitchers like Moose is taking care of the Americans? I read that he thought the world of Veras, that has to mean something to Girardi.

Anyone else think that Giambi could actually play 50 to 75 games at first this year?
