Great news for Bobby Murcer

Peter Abraham

The biopsy he underwent on Monday revealed only scar tissue and no signs that his cancer had returned.

In a statement released by the Yankees, Murcer said he is checking out of the hospital today and will rest at home for a few weeks.

“I’m focusing my energy on returning to the Stadium for its final Opening Day,” he said. “My family and I thank everyone for their prayers, e-mails, cards and thoughts.”

Shelly should be be the starting first baseman. He brings an energy that the team has lacked. Go with the youth.
