Reds lineup for today

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Mar 06, 2008 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Norris Hopper CF
Jeff Keppinger SS
Ken Griffey Jr. RF
Adam Dunn LF
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Scott Hatteberg 1B
Joey Votto DH
Javier Valentin C
Andy Green 2B

Notes: Had a chance to speak to Andy Phillips before the game. The Reds are using him at 1B, 2B, 3B and LF and he hopes to make the team as a utility player. He said he was surprised when the Yankees DFA’d him but has no ill feelings to the organization.

Between me and Andy, that makes one of us who was surprised when he was DFAd

  2. mel March 6th, 2008 at 12:40 pm

    Pete,

There are about 30 stations that are Reds affiliates. Could you give us a shout with their call letters if you see any radio guys? Thanks!

I mean, we could all just try to tune into

    WKRV … In Cincinatti…

Does anyone else remember that show?

Andy seems like a genuinely nice guy. I hope he makes the team.

  5. gayle March 6th, 2008 at 12:44 pm

    RB

    it was WKRP not V

  6. mel March 6th, 2008 at 12:44 pm

There was a revolving door at 1B so it’s no surprise when he was DFA’ed. The Yankees may have even held on to him a little longer than they wanted in light of his personal hardships. He’s a good guy, and I wish him the best of luck.

And Andy could probably blame glass butt for being dfa.

  8. Moe March 6th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

Andy just ran out of luck with the yankee org. he always hit for avg. in the minors, don’t forget 1 thing, he is about 30 yrs old already.

Loved that show with Loni Anderson. She actually went out with the blonde guy that was a foot shorter than her. Childhood favorite (dating myself here)

What show? Is 25 too young to know it?

  12. rb15 March 6th, 2008 at 12:48 pm

Gayle, that’s vrevosterous. It was definitely -V. ;)

  13. saucY March 6th, 2008 at 12:51 pm

i remember that show, but was probably too young to understand it…

jennifer, i was about to say the same thing…

  14. grafxkid March 6th, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Yeah it was WKRP in Cincinatti…ahhh, Loni was a favorite of mine!! Still is!

  15. ellen March 6th, 2008 at 12:52 pm

rb: nope, Gayle’s right. WKRP. If you do a yahoo search, there are tons of links about it. Gotta love Dr. Johnny Fever!

Anyone else seen the guest appearance of Dave Winfield on The Moment of Truth? He was introduced as the “New York Yankees Hall of Hamer” as he entered and exited.

Thought he chose to go in as a Padre so why wasn’t he introduced as the San Diego Padre Hall of Hamer?.

Did he ever have a Dave Winfield Day at the stadium?

Btw, that question he recited was sexual in nature, and kind of sleazy (for a Hall of Hamer anyway)… IMHO, which was why I watched the show anyway. LOL.

  18. Clay Bellinger March 6th, 2008 at 12:54 pm

I remember the guy from WKRP more from “Head of the Class”.

  19. rb15 March 6th, 2008 at 12:56 pm

Yes, Gayle’s right. I also barely remember that show – I’m 28, so I sort of missed it. I have vague memories of the title scenes and the “WKRP in Cincinatti” melody.

I was a total sucker for Perfect Strangers and Urkel, though.

  20. saucY March 6th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

i’m pretty sure i was a fan of the show that came on prior to WKRP.

*** Reposting… sorry for the spelling errors ***

Anyone else seen the guest appearance of Dave Winfield on The Moment of Truth? He was introduced as the “New York Yankees Hall of Famer” as he entered and exited.

Steve Phillips doing the Sox/Dodgers game on ESPN. How many times will he talk about the Yankees during this broadcast?

  24. jennifer- Hip Hip Jorge March 6th, 2008 at 1:06 pm

Over under 30. I’d say over.

  25. saucY March 6th, 2008 at 1:08 pm

pat, probably more than either team playing…

could make for a good drinking game.

  26. pat March 6th, 2008 at 1:10 pm

He’s already called the Dodgers the Yankees once.

  27. grafxkid March 6th, 2008 at 1:12 pm

    Over!

  28. saucY March 6th, 2008 at 1:15 pm

    pat — hilarious!

    that would be 3 shots.

  29. jennifer- Hip Hip Jorge March 6th, 2008 at 1:20 pm

saucy I don’t think I’d make it out of the first inning, in this drinking game.

  30. Yanksrule57 March 6th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

ESPN is using Steve Phillips as an analyst during games?

It isn’t bad enough I avoid BBT when he is on, now I have to not watch ESPN games?

  31. Clay Bellinger March 6th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Wang only lasted 2/3 of an inning, and gave up 6 runs. I hope he didn’t get hurtskis.

  32. murphydog March 6th, 2008 at 2:28 pm

Whasssup with Wanger? Threw the changeup too many times?
