One more update before I go catch the Notre Dame-South Florida game: Mark Melancon was reassigned to the minor-league camp.

No word yet on Francisco Cervelli’s condition.

Mark Melancon WILL be back. This cut was expected as part of his plan.
He’ll start the season at high A Tampa and work his way up the east coast. A good possibility of a July callup to the big team.

Maybe he’ll be the next closer for the Yankees.

There’s a lot of hype with Melancon. People love his attitude — competitive, gutsy, mature — but his stuff just isn’t that good. Not closer material.
