Can anybody name another player that has Phil’s talent, is a great human being, and makes himself so accessible to fans?

Well, you can string me up, but I think Curtis Granderson is not a bad comparison.

Oh! so being a nice person gives you cy young votes???… not saying phil hughes is not a great pitcher but if he has bad year dont tell your giving him votes because he is a great person???……oh now I know why those detroit writers didn’t give Alex those two votes last year… come on pete stop the stupidity.

What’s not to like about Phil?
Fan friendly, super talented, and not afraid to say something with a little substance (Cough, Jeter, Cough).
If he has some success on the field this year, watch how quick he starts getting offers and doing commercials. He will be a media star.

I know Schilling annoys all of us, and I am certainly no Red Sox fan, but because I live in the Philly area, I know about all of the great things Schilling has done for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He is a tireless and dedicated fundraiser for the movement to find a cure to this dreaful disease. I am all too aware of this disease and Schilling’s heroic contributions because my father died of ALS.
