Amazing. Link after link to more pics. Link after link to video. Yet Pete chooses to leave pic that is the worst representation of the incident on the front page. Typical.

Right on CB.

I take no offense that people pick the Sox to win. But your points are all accurate and that's why they play the games.

Fans around the country arent used to, or dont even know about this brand of Yankee baseball - a mix of all-star vets and young guns with a ton of pitching depth.

Time for a wakeup call.

Let the Red Sox be the favorites this year. That's fine. They're the champs so be it.

But that team is going to struggle this year - they do not have any depth at all in terms of pitching and they still are struggling to figure out how to make up for Schilling.

Beckett is going to be very good again. Wakefield will be worse. Tavarez is terrible.

Their rotation and season may come down to how matsuzaka, lester and buchholz do.

I'm not sold on matsuzaka at all. I think he's going to take a step back this year as hitters continue to get used to his wind up and stuff. They'll continue making adjustments and its up to Matsuzaka to counter. I don't think he has the command to do so and he hasn't shown the stamina to go every 5th day for a whole MLB season (ironic for the 200 pitcher per game legend).

Buchholz is capped in terms of innings. If he starts in the rotation they will need to some how bridge his innings.

Lester - will be healthier but has never shown the command needed to be a top flight pitcher.

On the whole they are a very talented team but one with more weaknesses than they had last season and one that lacks depth.

The yankees have more uncertainty but I also think they have a much deeper, more flexible team.

Thought I'd also mention that if you're going to slide in an attempt to do damage, you'd probably slide a lot harder, slide PAST the bag (something Duncan didn't do), and extend your spikes OUTWARD rather than have your knee bent way in. Yes, his foot was up off the ground, but in no way does it look like there's intent to injure there. If you're going to injure someone, you'd be a lot more aggressive than that. Duncan simply went in hard, with somewhat of an awkward slide (let's face it, he's a little rambunctious), and the leg came up a little when it hit Iwamura. It's a "routine" hard slide into second. You see it all the time. It just so happens to be bad timing and Iwamura's body was positioned over second base, so the spikes caught his leg.

For anyone to imply that it's in ANY way different than bowling over the catcher is full of it.

So anyone know what this means: "keeping the peace" - why would you get ejected for that...from the Bryan Hoch blog:

This day began with a Hollywood actor carrying a black bat into the clubhouse and lockering up, and a $16 million pitcher coming down with a mysteriously mild forearm injury; then featured a coach leaving the field on a stretcher to a standing ovation and a pitcher thumbed for a wild fastball; then the crescendo came with a right fielder wrapping up a player at second base and two coaches being tossed -- one, Bobby Meacham, for keeping the peace in a bench-clearing melee.

About time the Yankees took care of business. Good for them. MLB be warned: This is not Joe Torre's Yankees. Throw at us, play dirty, crowd the plate, do what you want to do but there will be payback.

LOVE IT.
