Pettitte comes through bullpen fine
On the way to Sarasota now. We stayed behind in Tampa to watch Andy Pettitte’s bullpen.
He threw long toss, 8 warmup pitches then 42 off the mound. Dave Eiland stood in as a hitter and Andy knocked him off the plate once. “Sorry,” he yelled.
“I felt great, really great,” said Pettitte, who skipped his last start with slight elbow tendinitis. “I have no concerns.”
Pettitte will start against Boston on Monday and expects to throw 70 pitches or so.

man, this is great news, but let Andy have more time if he need it.
i have a feeling that elbow tendinitis was really nothing more than just an excuse to keep the veteran off the mound for the ‘retaliation’ game to get business taken care of w/o getting regulars involved… but in any case, good to hear he’s feeling great; suffice it to say that he’s an incredibly important piece to the front of this rotation.
i wonder why they would start andy v. the red sox. don’t they usually like to keep starting pitchers away from teams they will face in the regular season, if at all possible. sure, at this point the sox know what andy throws. but, i would keep him away from the sox…..
I dont know about the rest of you ninjas, but I cant wait for the season to start. spring training is such a tease…..especially when Im at work for 99% of the games that are televised.
agreed jtrain
i think when the yankees play the bosox (or the mets), even in ST, it IS the regular season and the steins are looking for a WIN here, ergo andy.
